Hey guys, I need a price check on a 1977 Marlin 39A Golden. It is about an 85% wood and metal, but the rear sight and tube have been replaced with new stuff. Action is tight, and shoots clean and straight. Guy has it priced at $325. What do you think?

Sounds like a fair price to me. I wouldn't feel that I was getting ripped or anything. Actually, if I found a 39A for much under $300 I'd probably be wondering "what's wrong with it?".

Going rate for new nowadays is just under $500. The one you are looking at is pre-safety if I'm not mistaken. I'd say go for it!

Thats a pretty fair price nowadays. Especially since new they are running about 600 now. If I saw one in good condition at that price, id buy it even though I already have one.

Thanks guys, I haven't seen any used and was just wondering I am going to run back by and pick it up.

Got a 1977 myself in very nice condition all original except it has a scope mounted on it. I don't know enough about the system to "rate" it but I wouldn't give it up for $325.00

That's a real steal; glad to see it. [EDIT: *Plus* you got to shoot it beforehand. Can't beat that with a stick.]

I tried for years and years to run into one used, but never did. I had to go new a couple of years ago. Some people have all the luck, I guess.
