So I was looking on gunbroker at the prices of rifles today. I noticed that there are TONS of ARs on the site that are overpriced, and none of them have bids on them. Every few rifles that you look at, you can find an AR that has no reserve and is at a good price, and it has bids on it.

When I looked at AKs, this does not seem to be the case. People are still bidding on Century AKs at prices higher than they were before the panic.

Anybody have any ideas why AR prices are coming down but AK prices are not coming down as fast?

my guess would be , there are a lot more AR being made , and when they all catch up the prices will be back under $1,000 and there will even be big sales just to get them out the door , go look at a UZI knock off, there getting $1,400 for them ! there is just less AK's out there

At practical shooting ranges the AK/AKM is far superior weapon. If I had to buy new semi-auto version of military rifle it would be "piston-driven" SIG.

Its all about the ammo. THe AK round is cheaper and is coming in bulk , the prices arent that outrageous. People are buying AKs bec of cheaper ammo. THe 5.56 is way too much to feed like a dollar a round. People are smarter nowadays. ARs are overhyped and overpriced.

It is my opinion that those overpriced AR's remain that way for those specific sellers still hoping to get another desperate soul in fear to pay 2x the amount for an AR.

I contend that this too shall pass and I hope they get stuck with them for a long time when wally world returns to selling them for the same price they were selling them before Dec 2012......

Prices are coming down on AR's. A stripped lower was going for 350.00 now you can get them for 200.00. Things on that front are getting better.

PSA has blem lowers for $99, which is $30 more than they were. Before the craziness. Ammo for AR's is really the issue.

Might have something to do with BO'sEO regarding imports of guns/ ammo/ mags/ parts. Just saying. Joe

I agree with Joe! It is wildly believed that the assault weapons ban is not doable at this time!

But I feel that between the UN small arms treaty and Obamas possible executive order to ban imports into the country has more to do with it.

Yeah. I would love to buy an AK, but they're still out of sight. At the moment, ARs are actually cheaper. Crazy. That's base model ARs of course.

Still got a long way to go considering I picked up a stripped lower for $90 at a gun show the first week of December 2012, a week later it was panic city!
