Primers in stock, prices going back up

Still not able to find LR primers at any price.
I tried to see your location to provide help if your close.... lrp are 10k deep at t and c pawn, but you better really want them at 17 cents each minimum 1k prior to tax. Last ones I found were Remington for 89.00 per k at bps in Memphis prior to my move. That was a year ago.

You would faint if you knew how much an Enterprise-class server costs now.

I build my own computers, so, yes, I know. Tech is one of those weird fields where it seems something 'new and improved' comes out every 6- to 12-months, with an appropriate increase in cost... and not only because of production costs. I know how much I paid for my last video card... a GTX970... and my eyes about bugged out of my head when the latest RTX was released. Holy Toledo!!!

No Sportsman's Warehouse hereabouts, I have been paying $7.59 a hundred for SP when Academy had some. I bought 2200, all the WW they had this week, then mail ordered another 3000. Then I had to order powder from Powder Valley to use them with.

I have been buying pistol primers, both large and small at our local Sportsman’s Warehouse for the past year or so with very little interruptions. For a while I was limited to 200 at a time, but with my wife with me we got enough to keep me busy. Then they opened it up to 1000 at a time and I started buying more. The price was OK, not great at $5.99 per hundred and then the Fiocchi 150 pack started to show up at $8.99 per tray, still at 6 cents each. This has been going on at least since summer and they usually had what I needed in stock. When looking on line these looked pretty good price wise plus no shipping or haz mat fees.

I went in to buy some N320 powder the other day and they had about 50 bricks of the Fiocchi small primers in the case so I grabbed one. The price kept coming up $10.99 instead of $8.99. When we got the manager to come over he said the price was $10.99. I showed him the price tag and he finally sold them to me at $8.99 but immediately went over and ripped the price tag off the shelf. He asked the clerk “who failed to do their job correctly, that was their Black Friday price and it should have been taken down then”. I tried to tell him that had been their price for months, he told me I was wrong.

I went back yesterday to get some fishing stuff for Christmas presents and walked by the locked cases of ammo, powder and primers. The Fiocchi were now $10.99 and the CCI, Winchester, Federal and Remington primers were now marked $6.99. That’s a $20.00 jump for Fiocchi and a $10.00 jump for the other brands if you buy a brick. Is everyone else seeing a price jump or is it just our local manager bumping up prices?
Lucky you can get them that cheap! Our cost as an FFL is 70-80 a brick plus shipping for primers IF they have any for us to buy...

Everyone has to set their own threshold of price tolerance...if you set it too low, you can easily be caught out by the bounce back

My personal limit is $60/k, including shipping and HazMat...for the primers that I'll use...anything lower than that is just gravy . I tend to buy 10k at a time, but if I saw they for $50/k, I'd likely pick up 50k
I bought so many last time I have not really paid much attention this time but, when ammo started to come back good I just started buying more cases. Price dipped a little more after I had already bought a few more but to me? I just shrug it off. I LOVE to be able to shoot (when I can get the damn time :fire: ) so like having plenty on hand. I have watched these panics come and go since before the net. Any more I don't roll. Just don't have the free time compared to cost savings. I do store a LOT of supplies so if a panic ever turns into nothing for years I could roll again. Some of the stuff still has price tags on it and its enough to make me almost cry when I look at the price "back then". Hey it is what it is. I just wish more shooters would learn to not keep getting caught pants down. I do feel for those who are new to shooting who come along during a panic shortage. Most are people who have lived through a couple of them at least and still get caught.

You mean you won’t buy if the price is over that? Regardless?
Not really. What it means is that I bought enough when it was relatively reasonable that I'm not running into shortages in my stock that I have to pay more than I want...at this time.

What helped out was discovering Ginex SPP were more than comparable to CCI SPP for my use and being able to not cut into my stock of Federal SPP that using in my tuned revolvers. It also saved cutting into my stock of Federal LPP by going to using SPP brass for .45ACP loads for my 1911. I've found that I can store 35k Ginex SPP in the same space as it takes to story 12k Federal

Our Sportsman's Warehouse is always empty, never a soul in the store, don't know how they keep the lights on.... I don't go there anymore, way too expensive.

Central Minnesota and appreciate your help

Our Sportsman's Warehouse had them for a while, I was lucky enough to get a brick before their prices went way up. I can still get primers for $79.95 a brick at the shooting club I belong too, but they are the new black Winchesters spp which won't run through my priming systems on my progressive presses, so I stay away from them.
I'll mail order primers and pay hazmat to get another brand, before I use those black small pistol Winchester primers again.
I hope for everyone sake I just got a bad batch.

I’m at the point where I will need to start buying more come spring of next year, right in the heat of the political race season. Can’t imagine they will be any easier to find or cheaper.

And speaking of prices, I have set my bar at $60/k. But from what I’m seeing, prices are all over the place.

We might think about a discreet way of allowing members to find out which ones are conveniently close to each other. I have quite a lot of things I'd be willing to swap for some Large Rifle Primers.
I have a surplus but west coast Florida is a long drive from central Kentucky. 😞

I’m really well set on primers, except CCI-450s, but have other SRPs I could use there, but despite that, if someone has some primers for $50 per in the near future, I’m going to jump, probably 5K per type.

Problem is, that might not happen before the next stupidity happens.

Oh, and I don’t shoot the pistol games or 3 gun, those poor folks have been having to buy all along. I paid $75 per for the 2 1/2K 450s I have left for PRS. You do what you have to. :)

Funny, I just bought two bricks of Fiocchi from Sportsmans warehouse a week after black friday and they had bricks for $89.99. I think you are right about the tags, when I went to ring them up the register wanted $10.99 until I showed him the rack tag at $8.99/tray.

I'm good on most primers except LRP's, those I cannot find for under $100/brick.
I just had to grit my teeth and pick up another 5k Winchester primers online, 3k LPP's @ $65/brick, and 2k SRP's @ $80/brick. Final bill was $450 with shipping. Ouch. At least i'm stocked with everything except LRP's for the next few years.

Here's the cheapest I can find anywhere for primers, SPP's @ $55/brick.

Academy had some. I bought 2200, all the WW they had this week, then mail ordered another 3000.

As before, promptly delivered, poorly packed, roughly handled. Airbag type packing... deflated. About 50 primers rattling around in the carton, two on the floor, one on the porch, four missing.

I saw some adverse report on "Winchester black primers". Yes, the sealant in these is black, not red or yellow. What's up?
