got my new privi brass that is kind of short avg. .962 before and after size. hornady manual has .974 trim length so my fcd die is pointless. so now i have to put the loaded round back through the size die to get the neck diameter back to .329. having to go through all of this to load a .308 bullet how in the world can i load a .309 bullet like the hornady manual has???

Yes, the brass is short, but that doesn't stop me from reloading it.

If the brass is .962, just lower the crimp die?

Don't size after seating, all you're doing is resizing the bullet.
Then it's too small to be accurate. - don't ask how I know :banghead:

I've had a LOT better success with reworked 223 brass.

I mark 'em & cut 'em to 1 inch.
run 'em thru a 7.62x25 sizing die.
Then trim 'em to what ever size you like.
Then they're all the same & easier to reload with.

hondo 60 you are right about smashing the bullet down to .3065 diameter by running the loaded round back in the size die. i have privi factory loads that use a bullet that is .3065 but those bullets are out of stock. the 2 guns i am loading for are .003 off on the barrels. i am not sure a .309 bullet would be safe in the cz52. could it be i have bit off more than i can chew:confused:

good news hondo 60 gave the right advice. worked with the dies a bit more and got the .308 bullet to seat and crimp with no run out and .3295 neck diam. this will fit in both guns almost too good. the factory load is on the left mine on right the crimp is a bit much but because of the short cases i will have to go on how much pressure i use. if i back the fcd die out any more it will not hit the case. this round takes time to get right.thanks hondo 60 my confidence is back for now.:D
