I see a video has been posted on YouTube that claims Palmetto State Armory is resurrecting the STG-44. I'm not providing a link because I don't care to promote the channel or that channel's host.

Remember when PSA was resurrecting the MP5? I wonder if the results will be similar with the STG?

Meh. What the point? I can't deny its cool and all, but its not an original.

No selective fire..(never will be unless the Hughes goes away),

It was the first true "assault rifle" design...and name coined by Hitler himself by the way....

Technology has marched well past in now. Better designs today..lighter, better..etc.

I hear they will try to get 2 grand for these..which is ridiculous.
May be offered in 8mm Kurtz, 7.62x39...and 5.556...

If it floats your boat...have fun! Myself, for 2 grand I can build one heck of an awesome AR...

Let's wait for more info. Prices will be higher at the first wave, few gens will come up until a reliable model stay in the market, if enough people bite it. Btw, I will pay a good attention to PSA, because a .22 cal is just a plinker.

good luck. go ahead and pre order one. I'll bet they come into stock about the same time as PSA's SFAR10
HMG has been promising guns for 7 years. Have they shipped a single one yet?

Background
At SHOT Show 2016, Hill & Mac Gunworks (HMG) announced that they were creating a replica of the German WWII Sturmgewehr, or StG 44. Since at least 2017 they have been claiming they are close to shipping. In October 2018, after more than a year of additional delays, HMG posted an update on their website promising that “this time is different” and that they “hoped” to be shipping around March 2019. Then in December, they posted a video on Facebook revealing that they had “made some partnerships”. They also claimed that “if you have a pre-order as of today, you will have it in your hands, no matter when you ordered, no later than March”.

When March came, they said they had been delayed by quality control issues but had worked through them and were waiting on parts. Finally, in June of 2019, they posted that they were still waiting on the parts for testing. They have made no public statements since then.

It's an interesting story, provided you didn't pony up an advanced deposit. As I understand the timeline, things fell apart somewhere between the completion of advanced prototypes and full production.

HMG has been in litigation with True Position regarding a production deal struck in early 2019. The court prelims went on for about two years -- here's a summary of the legal battle prior to trial:

https://casetext.com/case/hill-mac-gunworks-llc-v-true-position-inc

I'm not sure whether the entire matter has finally been settled, but there was some form of settlement filed in May 2022.

My guess is this finally freed HMG to negotiate with another manufacturing partner like PSA. From what I've seen and read, HMGs sins were accepting money up-front and then giving optimistic (and, ultimately, failed) delivery dates. Not righteous.

I'd still like to see their product eventually leave the vaporware stage and go on sale, even if I can't own one where I live. If PSA is willing to put their brand on it, maybe it has a chance.

I never put down the money to HMG so I haven't lost anything there. If this is a matter of them effectively buying the design from them (because certain things WERE redesigned for the HMG repro) then that's fine, but man-oh-man I would have just made everyone sign an NDA to keep HMG's name off of the project.

Granted, PSA has had some vaporware, but they also are not a small company and make a whole bunch of stuff already (and mostly at good prices).

I'll never pre-order one, but if they appear on shelves for less than $2k (hell less than $3k probably) then its pretty much an automatic purchase for me.

Since my father die, I trust no man in this World (meaning: no money in advance.)
When PSA have it listed and then I will wait for gen 2 or the regular runner.

Btw, what is the story about PSA future ammo plant doing 7.62x39. Please, apologies in advance no intention of derailing the threat.

Would it be .300 Blackout or would it be in 7.62x39mm? If I had the money, I might consider buying one.

Well, since we're talking about PSA and the HMG Stg was supposed to be available in 7.62x39, maybe this is still vaguely on topic. :)

Check out the postings on this PSA forum by Anthony_PSA -- he includes proof-of-life photos showing construction of their ammo plant: https://palmettostatearmory.com/forum/t/where-s-the-ammo-plant-gonna-be-located/10864/45

The CLAIM is that it'll be available in 5.56, .300 Blackout, 7.62x39, and the original 8mm Kurz.

Who's still producing 8mm Kurz these days? Also they claim with the change they did over the original design, easier to do caliber swaps.

PPU still makes it. Not sure if anyone else does, but some people likely just want it in that because its the weapon's original cartridge. Realistically most people would be buying these to shoot at most very occasionally rather than as an actual gun to get work done with.

According to the video on The Firearm Blog, it will be HMG that will be producing the STG44 for Palmetto State Armory and will be sold under the Battlefield line.

Dang, so that's where it was.
Saw the TFB post on f/b, but never could find anything actually on TFB to confirm. The f/b blurb only said in "three calibers" and Iwas keen to know which those were.

There's a ton of SHOT show hype out right now.

Was the sturmgewerhr really that great of a weapon? Just a novelty? Didnt read of many russians dropping their ppsh for one. Didnt hear of any Americans ditching their thompsons or m1 carbines for one.

Only German soldiers who carried STG-44 had ammo. So, few bursts and run.

If the story of the Stg series interests you, I can recommend Hans-Dieter Handrich's revised edition of this book:

My wife bought me a copy this Christmas (or at least she didn't say no when I asked ...) It's still available from the publisher through Amazon at the admittedly high price of $120, but if you have any interest in getting a copy, I suggest you do it now. After the initial print run sells out, past experience indicates that the price will go stratospheric.

I would love to lay my eyes on that book. Sadly, a new house A/C unit and timing belt+water pump on my daughter's car came altogether.
So, no tools, books or toys for a while. Even, AbeBooks has it for $155.00 used.
Thank you, Dave I will save coins or may be someone remember my birthday.

I know what those nazis are thinking in that photo: We should take off these hats and run!
