Does anyone know if the stock from a marlin 781 .22 rifle (tube fed) would be able to be modified into a marlin 780 mag fed? I'm thinking I could drill out the magazine compartment with little trouble and use all 780 parts but I'm worried about the barrel fit. Or if I could build a rifle that as a non functioning tube feed just to get a proper barrel seat. Sorry if this is all confusing I'm a newb. I don't have the 781 stock yet, it's in the mail on its way to me. I purchased it for a really low price on ebay and figured I couldn't go wrong.
This is what I am doing, in my quest to purchase the Western Auto Supply model 105 or Marlin 780 (same thing) I have come across a wood stock for the Marlin 781 which is pretty damn close to the marlin 780 but I like the mag fed 780 rifle better and would like to build a 780 from the stock up. I wanted to see if any of you might have any input, if this is too much trouble would be involved in this mod.
