I agree in some ways. In my case, when the cops came they listened to me and my wife before they arrested us. And they didn't just arrest me, they arrested her too, because they learned of how she started everything, from me.
But so far I haven't had any problems whatsoever from having been arrested and charged with DV. When I got hired at Cabela's, they made me sign all these forms authorizing background checks. Everything from Police records, to driving records. And they didn't even mention an arrest at all when they hired me. Guns are 80% of our sales at the store I work at and they just wouldn't have hired me had they had any concerns about me being a violent person, or if I had been convicted of DV.
Also, the reason they put me on delay was because my dealer didn't know what to say when they asked him if he had seen proof that I had been a resident for 90 days. They never said anything about a criminal record. And the fact that I'm still on delay makes me think it's more something related to USCIS being slow than my arrest record, or else they would've denied me already.
But you never know. I'll pick up my gun tomorrow since today was the 3rd business day and they didn't call. Unless they call tomorrow before I pick up my gun and deny me, which would totally suck...
We'll see! I'm o.k either way. I was really anxious at one point because I've been real thrilled and excited about owning my very own pistol (instead of fondling my dad's or somebody else's) but it's not that big of a deal anymore. If I get denied and have to appeal, then I'll buy this really nice Stratocaster that I found on eBay for almost as much as I was gonna pay for the gun.
