Question about Savage MK II rifles. (Updated with pic - I caved)
I've been in the market for a .22 bolt rifle for a while now and I was at one of my local shops today and there was a new Savage MK II model BRJ (heavy barrel and laminate stock) for $300. Savage's website has these MSRP for $500.
I was really close to buying this rifle but the action seemed very tight and not smooth at all. Is that common for these rifles? Is it something that will break in over time? I'll probably go back for this rifle if it will work itself out over time. I liked everything else about it but wasn't sold on the action.
What do you guys think?
Thanks for your input.
So I went back and scooped up this rifle while it was still there. The action isn't nearly as bad as I thought I remembered it. I'm very pleased with this purchase. Just over $300 after tax. I'll be putting a Leupold 4-12 Rifleman on it next week and take it out to see what it's got!
