Hey all, I just had a quick question regarding ammo and warranties. The local Dick's Sporting Goods has a pretty good deal on some Ultramax remanufactured ammo. I have a Springfield XD40 and noticed that the warranty will be voided if I use remanufactured/handloaded ammo. I guess my question is how do the companies (Springfield, Ruger, ect) know whether you have fired such ammo?

Also, I ran a search but couldn't come up with any real reviews of Ultramax ammo. Is it any good or should I be worried about using it?

Thanks,

Jay

(Mods, if this is the wrong forum to post this in please move. Thanks.)

Short answer - they wouldn't (as long as the ammo met SAAMI specs for the caliber/cartridge that is).

And if they did? So what? Commercially remanufactured ammo must meet SAAMI specs which are the same specs new ammo must meet.

Gun companies are so law suit shy they do and say what ever they think they need to do and say to cover their buttocks.

I have used Ultrmax ammo in .40S&W and it is okay. It seemed a little dirtier than WWB. I assume you clean your weapon after using it and if that is the case the Ultrmax should cause you no trouble.

Dunno how any gun manufacturer would know what kind of ammo you put through the gun should something break.

They're really just covering their butts against the home reloader, or the person who buys those unmarked baggies of reloaded ammo at gun shows. That way when you send in your blown gun with damage caused by too much pressure by defective reloads, they can reasonably refuse to fix the gun, or pay any medical bills incurred by the shooter, if any.
