I like know if I sell to a private party out of state do I need to use a FFL for leagal transfer on my end or can I ship the long rifle to a FFL and let him transfer the gun to the new owner?(out of state)

By Federal law (and I am pretty sure all states' laws), you can ship the rifle yourself to the FFL in the recipient's state of residence, including mailing it by USPS because it is a rifle.

Some FFL's will not accept shipments from private parties, so you might want to check with the receiving FFL first what their policy is and what you need to send with it.

thank you for the reply:I know in n.y.s. (I think)out of state sales must go threw FFL to FFL
