He has strong political feelings and is very pro-gun. I heard him in a great interview on "Opie & Anthony". I forget the specifics but he made the point that he has to go through a bunch of nonsense every time he gets a new gun, when he already has a ton of them at home, so what's the point.
 
He gives a good interview--comes across as reasonable and well-spoken. Ermey is a talented guy and uses his head.

He reminds me so much of one of my boot camp Drill Instructors,
it's scary. I never saw a movie portrayal of a Marine Corps Drill
Instructor that was as realistic as he was in "Full Metal Jacket".

It gave me the "deja-vu" willies just watching him and listening to him.:what:

One platoon had a "gunny knock off", but he was a cream puff compared to the one we had. Ours was more like Satan than Gunny.
 
Now you've done it!

Planting the idea of THE GUNNY for President in my mind. Comparing him with any other possible candidate makes all the rest as attractive as an I.R.S. audit.

Heck, I'd like to make him King! (just joking)

I can only imagine how entertaining the debates would be. I would expect most of his opponents to leave crying after he gets done tearing them apart.

They'd be lucky to make off stage alive if troop support was ever brought up.

Two good reasons for this:

1) He was a Marine D.I.
2) The D.I. scenes in “Full Metal Jacket” were his own doing. The scripted lines for the D.I. were thrown out and he did his ‘D.I. thing’.

I’ll bet he was one mean S.O.B. of a D.I.!
 
Just got to thinking (not always a good thing)...how does Ermy and Eastwood sound for a ticket? Eastwood doing his Gunny Hiway from 'Heartbreak Ridge'.

I would have suggested Jack Webb from 'The DI', but he has left the building.
 
I don't really know what makes him so special. He is pro-gun and all, which is good, but I don't really see why so many people like him so much.
 
The Gunny and the Nuge would be pretty awesome as heads of the NRA, but I don't think they are PC enough or soft and cuddly enough to get the NRA anywhere in politics. It would be a blast watching their debates though.

Did Ermey sell his soul to Glock? I like their pistols and everything but I don't think I've seen a picture of him in the last year where he wasn't sporting a Glock logo somewhere.
