Recently my 27 yr old (step) daughter has expressed a desire to start shooting again. When I married her mom (20 years ago this Aug 20th) she was but 7 years old. Immediately she was drawn to the recreations I was involved in, namely IDPA. Whenever I came home from a match I'd sit her down and she'd help me clean. Safety lesson first then a nomenclature lesson and then a quiz when we put them all back together. When she was 10 I started to teach her and she worked her way up from my 22s thru the 38sp and 9mms to the gun I eventually gave her when she was 21: Ruger Sp101 357. But she never really liked that since it was a DAO. So she returned it to me and I sold it here on this forum. A month ago she says she wants she is interested in getting back into it not necessarily from an urge to "carry" but because it's fun. So I gave her some lessons and we went to the range. I didn't take any pix on that trip but she fired my Walther P22 that she liked a lot, my S&W M642 that she absolutely hated and my H&K P30 that she liked with a few caveats.

This trip today, I took some pix and I took a different (slightly) different set. Same Walther 22, the H&K P30 9mm and my Browning Hi-Power 9mm. Had some different loads for her to shoot as well, some Winchester "Ball", some of that Winchester frangible +P+ range ammo and a mix of Cor-Bon, SXT and El Dorado Star Fire 9mm JHP. Oh and some 9mm Hornady TAP stuff.

She did well with the 22 and transitioned to the Browning where she felt it was "too jumpy" but I felt that might have been the Winchester frangible +P+ so we tried it again in a variety of loads. She settled into some decent groups but reiterated that she liked my P30 the best so far. However she has problems with the initial double action trigger pull. As far as ammo, she was fine with everything except the frangible +P+ stuff and she really liked the El Dorado "Star Fire" JHP. I'm thinking that a P30 with the LEM trigger module might be the ticket for her. What do y'all think?

I think an LEM sounds like just the ticket if she liked the trigger of the P22. Another option (unless you really want a 9mm) would be the HK45 which can be had with a manual safety/decocker and can be treated like a SAO and carried C&L. The USP series can do the same, but if she likes the ergonomics of the P30, then you might want to stick with that grip design (IOW, the P30 and HK45).
