Took the xd 40 to the range and the girlfriend too.**She has never shot before either.**So we went over safety rules. Ear and eye protection.** I shot a few to show her what to expect.**Then went over the rules again. Gave her the magazine and gun.**Had her load it and cycle a round in the chamber.**First shot I expected what was to happen she was nervous and let her arms drop and began to forget all the rules about pointing in a safe direction.**I was close enough to her to firmly state to watch where your pointing and guided her arms back into a safe direction.**Had another safety talk and she shot the rest of the magazine.**She was happy when all was done and wants to do it again.**Ill bring the lil 17 hmr so she can plink and get the target shooting aspect next time.

Also shot my first group of reloads at the lowest powder charge recommended.**I had every round fire but was not cyclung the full action to eject the shells.**It was a good reminder in a self defense situation to quicky get the casing out and ready to fire.**Needless to say I had 100 rounds of practice like that.** I think when teaching her to shoot ill use min charge loads every few shots just to stovepipe the firearm to train her how to quickly get a gun operational again.****Todays range time I myself learned a few things.** Get out and shoot and practice different scenarios.

All good in sector 7.

Glad to hear your girlfriend enjoyed herself. My wife and I try to get to the indoor range once a month and share an hours range time. We will both shoot our 9mm, our 380's and then finish the hour up rapid firing our M&P22. Yes it is nice having an indoor range that allows rapid fire.

One thing your post taught me though is to never put my life on the line by using reloads. I would never have anything but new high quality Hollow Points in my weapons when used for carry or home defense. My wife and my life are worth a whole lot more than the money saved on a reload that may jam.
