Rapper found dead after playing with gun

A rapper found shot to death, and HPD thinks it's "accidential".......

....those two reasons alone should trigger a homicide investigation.....

It would not be terribly difficult to tell if someone died from twirling a firearm. The recoil of the pistol held loosely by only one finger would send it on a fairly predictable path relative to the wound and point of discharge.
Combined with the pattern of powder burn the exact sequence would not be too terribly difficult to recreate.

Good forensics would be very likely to find foul play.

If they think he died twirling a gun he likely died twirling a gun.

The more I read these types of posts the more I see that we have a bunch of very stupid folks answering and should be held accountable for their own stupidity. The victim was stupid for sure, or it might have been a deliberate suicide. Which is sad for sure.

But to come to a forum and say it is good and you are happy, is really messed up Time the moderators did their job I'd figure.

True, we have no assurance as to what kind of people are behind posts on open Internet forums. These gun forums are only useful for technical info on guns. Otherwise, it's just random people with no background checks giving unchecked opinions that run amok. I show up only when I'm bored.

I just saw that Reno 9111! episode where they teach the schoolkids gun control in a high school and recommend different guns for "...the ladies, the wrestling team members, the football players... might just wanna skip on up to .44 magnum... 5 in the chamber, one in the clip...". That last comment reminded me of it. There really should be a shooting/hunting class, they've got drivers' ed.

D*****S !!

It's rather peculiar - we get these threads about twice every year. For some reason it's always rappers that shoot themselves while playing with guns. Country singers I'm sure have just as many guns - but we don't hear about them doing stuff like this very often.

My sympthaties to his family. I'm always sorry to see another gun owner pass away.

Gun accident leaves Houston rapper dead, police say

A local rapper died Friday afternoon from an accidental gunshot wound to the head at the small recording studio he co-owned and operated in west Houston, police said.

Officers responding to reports of a shooting at Fam Tide Records in the 12700 block of Medfield found 32-year-old Michael Francis dead inside the studio, said Sgt. Robert Blain of HPD's homicide division.

Investigators are in the process of interviewing four of Francis' friends and co-workers who were with him inside the studio at the time of the shooting, but preliminary information indicates that the man shot himself in the head by accident while playing with the gun, Blain said.

"He was just messing around is what we're being told," he said.

In the aftermath of the shooting Friday night, grieving relatives and friends gathered to weep and comfort each other in the darkened parking lot outside the studio, which is located in a small strip mall sandwiched between a day care center and hair salon. The glass storefront of the studio is painted with the names of affiliated groups, including Da Dub Spot and SWAT.

A woman who identified herself as Francis' mother said her son was a rapper, musician, and writer.

"It was a terrible accident," she said.

I always see some gangstas at gun shows that need saving. You know, the guy who's holding a nickel SAA and trying to make a DA pull. The guy who's trying to cock an AR-15 by the carrying handle or forward assist. The guy buying .45 long colt for his glock. The list goes on and on. I always help them out, but talk about accidents waiting to happen. The country boys are much more gun savvy, they carry SKSs, good steel pistols, and moss 590s. They know how to operate everything up to even p90s. I think it's because they grew up with guns, while gangstas grow up watching guns and being told they're bad. They figure that if they're already bad enough to own a gun, they're bad enough to do stupid ****, ignore the 4 laws, and just generally not train to proficiency... Spray 'n pray rhymes, so it must work...

Wow, there's some pretty shameless ignorant crap going down in this thread.

I now have less than zero confidence in opinions unsupported by any kind of study.

The high road, this thread tends to keep the oxymoron alive.

I guess go ahead and delete another one of my posts that’s too much in your face. Don't forget to tell me I'm just a guest and not redneck enough.

Twirling a condition one Glock
Uh.. A who what?

...while practicing his draw and holster techniques, plugged himself.
I've seen plenty of accidents in holster practice.. but never anyone that shot themselves in the head.

Seriously, I kind of expect Nelson to walk in and give this guy a "HA HA".

And yes, for the person that asked, if my mom shot herself in the face twirling a pistol on her finger I would think she was an idiot too.

The arcticle is so brief and vague, that it is impossible to tell what happened. For all we know, the guy might have been recording backup vocals for Alan Jackson, wearing his CASS rig, and upon ignoring the 4 rules while practicing his draw and holster techniques, plugged himself. Just as easy could have been a suicide,

Does anyone else suspect that a considerable percentage of deaths involving handguns ruled accidental were really suicides? As others, with greater or lesser degrees of politeness, have already pointed out, you would have to be really, really stupid to be playing with a loaded gun.

I agree with you 100%

from reading this forum I see some of the cowards behind the keyboard are lower-lives than some of the criminals in the streets

Some really immature and cruel comments in this thread.

Death is not to be mocked.

I'm not saying I have never done it.... but I've come to be ashamed of the times I did. Every death is a tragedy, period.... end of story.

Oh sure, mocking death is fun, but mocking dead people is a bit cruel to the families, no doubt.

Wow, there's some pretty shameless ignorant crap going down in this thread.

Right, such as the references to Darwin and the gene pool. I have a feeling many folks' understandng of genetics comes from the Darwin Awards and not from biology. If the deceased has fathered a child, then the genes have NOT been removed from the gene pool.

gunnerpalace wonders if it was a glock...

in fact, a glock, with the trigger in the rear position, cant possibly have a round chambered a trigger in the forward position, is cocked, and should be assumedloaded and ready to fire spinning isn't likely cocked

I agree with others. Tone down the sick humor. The guy was either suicidal or did something stupid. No reason to find joy in his death. In addition, this doesn't sound like your typical gang banger criminal.

I'm Disappointed

So I read the whole thread.

Damn, guys.

It's a cautionary tale. Don't "play" with a loaded gun.

Don't twirl a loaded gun.

Too bad the guy grew up in a culture that didn't teach him guns and gun safety as part of the normal path to adulthood, so he did something ignorant and stupid and died for it.

And here we have laughing and chuckling and thigh slapping and name calling . . .

. . . and a dozen posts by guys who shake their fingers at the "non-high-road" nature of the posts . . .

. . . and not one of you notified me or any other mod that this thread was too messed up to leave open.

So, you sit around and gripe about how the High Road is deteriorating and the quality of contributions is down . . . and just wait for a mod to stumble through and notice.

Duh?

Look, if it's bad enough for you to complain in public, right here in the stupid thread, then could you spare a moment to at least tell the staff?

Huh?

Criminy!
