When it comes to the world of black powder revolvers nothing gets me going quite like a rarity, oddball or just unique piece!

while neither one of these are original civil war pieces they are still pretty rare!

pictured are my two unfired rarity’s

1982 ASM stainless steel 1860 Army

1970’s Santa Barbara New model Army

neither will remain unfired unless I get some sort of offer I can’t refuse :)

I’m very interested in seeing what our other members have collected over the years.
Oddballs , rare ones , stainless, engraved , ancient relics of the past, nickel gold chrome plated….. etc…..

You never know what kind of nice pieces members have ran into over the years!

I had this one made to order by Longhunter's in Texas.

full.jpg

The maker started with forgings from Uberti and went from there, incorporating all of the things which are known to increase accuracy and reliability. Cap fence, coil springs, cylinder and bore dimensions precisely matched, useable sights, etc.

It is #25 of 25, as the builder has gotten out of the business, claiming that even exorbitant prices do not justify the time spent making the guns.

That’s a really nice piece brother!I quite understand the gentleman’s thinking in the whole time department.
Money sure doesn’t buy it back!
I have spent quite a few hours tinkering with my cap and ball revolvers doing such things as you have said above save the cap rake.

how does your longhunter pistola shoot?

The short version is that I don't know. It is more accurate than I am.

The trigger is among the best that I have used. It is let down by a great deal of overtravel, and I often have considered adding a stop screw. I don't know if that would affect function, and I wouldn't really like the appearance of it. At any rate it still is among the best triggers I have used, so I deal with it. Combined with the very useable sights and light recoil, it is one of the easiest guns to hit with that I have ever tried - and it also is as reliable as any centerfire.

In some situations I feel like it is underpowered, and in some situations I prefer a gun that is quicker to load. On the whole, though, it is among the very best handguns, of any sort, that I have ever used, and there are very few handguns which I would rather have under any circumstance.

What do you mean "coil springs " ? I'd like to see someone else's. It's how folks learn !! Lol !!
I knew Longhunter's added the "spring and plunger" hand spring but unaware of any others.

Thanks,
Mike

Rare? At least odd and seldom seen in public. Roger and Spencer. Imported by Dixie Gun Works.

Bibbyman!
I seen your video of you shooting that bad boy! She looks like a sweet shooter!
I’d say 35 grains of 3F Ild eyensford or Swiss with a round ball outta that rogers and spencer would lay a hurting on anything that walks!

I have 5 blackpowder revolvers, 4 of them NIB in the safe. Ruger Old Army, and 4 Pietta. Just sent 2 (Pietta) to auction.

Not rare but different....

Nice Remmys brother!

the more I shoot cap n ball single actions the more I appreciate the Remington design.
I’m still partial to the open top design but I really love my Santa Barbara Remington. It feels like a completely different animal then ALL of my other cap guns.
