Awhile back, guided by some articles & then comments on THR, I resized .30-30 brass down to 25-35. Worked out pretty well on a number of different cases ( did it until i finally found new 25-35s) except for some much older WW Super in 30-30 that when resized, the bolt on the 25-35 wouldn't close fully. Every other make of brass sized Ok, just not some of the older WWs. I guess I have too much time on my hands. Now I want to size these 25-35s ( originally 30-30s) back to 30-30. Can I do it, or is that "pushing" this brass too much ?
I used an '06 die just to get the neck started, and then completely formed with the .30-30 die. The shoulder angle doesn't look as acute when going back to 30-30 but i figure it will when when fire formed. What do you think ?
Thanks

I’ll say more of the same; get some more .30-30 brass (either new or once fired) and keep those .25-35 cases as-is. No reason risking a case failure at the shoulder in a lever gun from overworked brass.

Stay safe.

I know how some of us on the forum are.o_O Sounds like something I would try to see if it would work out. Keep in mind that the brass is thin in the neck to begin with. I would anneal first, and only try it on say 10 of them. Fire form and load. Shoot and reload at least 5 times and examine the results. If they lasted to 5 reloads I might do it to the rest. Might just keep them in reserve for the 25-35. 30-30 brass is cheap you know.;) Let us curious minds know if it works or not.

You can get up to 300 once fired 30-30 brass for a little more than the cost of a new box of 30-30 ammo if you find some one selling it on here.

Thanks for the replies and even offer of brass, Highland. Like i said, i guess I have too much time on my hands. IT WAS a matter of "Sounds like something I would try to see if it would work out". I was was just being curious as to if it could be done. I also have enough 30-30s on hand not to miss these new resized ones and since i've found new 25-35s, i no longer am forced to resize 30-30s into 25-35s. Thanks to all for time and consideration; have a good day.....
