Fear and loathing at Kinko's
I read gun magazines at the airport, inflight on the plane, at Border's and Barnes and Noble - and I have never had anyone say a word to me about it.
If an antigun bigot were ever able to round up the "glands" to get crappy with me about it, I would most likely tell him/her something to the effect of "Last time I checked, what I read is none of your f*****g business, and I believe that is
still the case" (toned down for nuns, preists and if children are present, of course).
One funny incident happened at Kinko's. I had just finished shooting and was on my way home from the range. I had saved a target on which I had shot a really nice one hole group. I stopped in at Kinko's to laminate it - I do this with all my good groups. I share them with my shooting friends, and show them to people who I know who say "Handguns are too inaccurate to be used safely for defense - you will inadvertently shoot innocent bystanders" (shuts 'em up every time
).
Anyway, I took my laminated target up to the resgister to pay for it. The guy at the register looked to be your archtypical politically correct neutered metro male. When I handed my "merchandise" to him, his eyes got as big as silver dollars, bugged out and his entire body went rigid. He mechanically completed my transaction, not saying a word to me, as he struggled to not twitch...
Another time, a different Kinko's guy looked at my target and said, "Man, I'm scared of you!" I replied, "I'm a
'give peace a chance' kind of guy." He burst out laughing.
