I'll pitch another vote in for Virginia Arms. It's been darned few gunshops that I've been in where they great you the second that you walk in the door and ask if they can you with anything....and mean it.
Great folks, I use them for all my transfers. That said, I probably wouldn't send a first time buyer there. They don't stock much and deal mostly in LE/military type stuff. She'll be able to handle a wider variety elsewhere, not just Glocks and Sigs.
Another vote for Virginia Arms in Manassas. My fiance went there when she was looking to purchase a handgun. They treated her with a lot of respect and the prices were very good.
The store employee who worked with her knew she was buying the gun and focused on making sure she was happy with the purchase. He really went the extra mile and I would certainly go back to them for my own purchases (if I had any money at the moment)
