i prefer steel guns myself. my favorites would be any good 1911, BHP, S&W 59 series, and CZs. for revolvers, used S&Ws or new rugers.

For semi auto a Springfield 1911 would be my choice.

Look into a Star Firestar, model 30. No longer made, not real pretty but about as durable as you can get and as reliable as as a AK.

for a revovler, the 4" stainless GP 100.

for an auto, the CZ or BHP if you want a 9mm.

i personally like the Sig P series, but they have aluminum frames.
