Relax ND resrictions to CCW permit!

The NDSSA got a bill introduced, SB2219 to make the info confidential. I have not yet heard from them how the hearing went yesterday. I am hoping they will be willing to add the above as an amendment to SB2219. They don't meet until Feb 12 and want to be unified and in agreement before pursuing my amendment.

Thanks for checking back Pesticidal, keep checking.

Either I am confused or you are confused. The way I read the section of statute you cited, all those places that are off-limits to firearms carry apply only to persons not exempted by the statute, and the statute says that people with a CCW are exempt. So if you have a CCW you can carry in all those places. I assume ND allows open carry w/o a license? If so, it's only unlicensded people practicing open carry who are prohibited from carrying in the named locations.

Sorry, the statute I cited does not exist as such yet

The "statute" I cited is what I hope to see happen. At present the law does not exempt persons licensed to carry a concealed weapon in ND. The present statute is what you would get if you remove the bolded words from what is listed here. :)

BTW, ND law allows for open carry without a permit, but you must carry unloaded.

If you want to carry open and loaded, you must have a permit.

Goofy if you ask me, but not much of an issue here.

It is now too late to introduce any new bills unless the subject is attached as an amendment to another bill. So, unless you have a plan to add the change to another amendment, we're SOL for another two years.

NDSSA is holding off on an opinion until their board meeting on Feb 12, so hopefully that won't be too late to get this as an amendment to SB2219 or something.

Pesticidal, what is the deadline for introducing new bills?

Looks like this is dead for the time being. HB 1205 got amended a bit so that the testing is only the open book part and not the profiency part. NDSSA got their bill SB2219 introduced, but wasn't too interested in adding on any amendments. I have to respect their wishes on this as it is a good bill to keep our info confidential. I will try to get it going again, but the next option isn't until 2007 as our legislature only meets every 2 years.
