Release agent on wood?

release for what? Are you bedding a stock or what?

How about blue painters tape?

On wood, I'd use masking tape or wax, because the release agent isn't thick enough to fill the grain texture.

Tape, or use modeling clay to block the flow. I keep a stick of green modeling clay I got in the artificial flower dept of Wallyworld.

If you just want to keep overflow resin from sticking to the finish on the stock, paste wax works great. Masking tape works great too. And as Cemetry21 said, modeling clay works great. I use it to make dams and plug holes where I don’t want resin to go.

Car waxes are NOT suitable for these uses.

A good wax is Johnson's Paste Wax, which you can buy in big yellow cans as most any hardware store and many Walmart's in the polish and furniture was area.

Johnson;s is also excellent for use on modern leather holsters, and as a protective barrier under pistol grips to prevent the frame from rusting.
Even stainless guns can rust under grips, especially rubber grips.
Just apply a good coat and let dry 30 minutes.....DON'T wipe it off. Let dry and reattach the grips.

Thank you for this, I’ve had issue with rust under the rubber grips on my SS pistol. I’ve tried a few different products without much success. I’ll give this a go! Thanks!

The painters tape in either blue or green works extremely well. Does not peel off the finish underneath the tape when removed. I also use/like it on the bottom of a barrel when floating it in the forearm.
