Reloading plated .40 bullets

No, unless you ruin the neck tension and it is driven deeper in the case upon loading.

On my last range trip I picked up brass which also included a live 40S&W round. This round had a very heavy roll crimp into a plated bullet. The crimp was so heavy that I was not able to get the bullet out using my kinetic bullet puller. I would not shoot a round like that, but was wondering if that heavy roll crimp would increase the pressure on an already high pressure round.

I don't see how really, but I suppose it could increase pressure a bit.

One shouldn't put a heavy roll crimp on an auto cartridge that headspaces on the case mouth though. I am sure you know that.

But Lennyjoe is using a Lee FCD which is going to taper crimp, and that is what I was responding to.

Thanks Walkalong. I had no idea if the pressure will increase or not, but that is why I posed the question.

Yes I know, thanks. One of those first things I have learned when staring to handload. I also use the Lee FCD and apply a very light crimp for 9mm, 40S&W and especially 357sig. Neck tension is at a premium for 357sig.
