How accurate is the 700 LTR vs the 700P chambered in 308?

I'm interested to know how the LTR will do between 500-1000 yards with match ammo. Does the LTR give up a bit of accuracy due to the shorter 20" barrel (700P = 26")

Thanks

Mine shoots 5 shot groups under 1/2" with Federal 168 gr GC ammo. The groups are tighter than that, typically, but there is usually a flier that opens the group to 1/2". This is with a Leupold 1.75-6x scope at 100 yards, prone, with me behind the (factory) trigger. If you tweaked this rifle and performed an operator upgrade :D it would shoot better.

6" shorter barrel means significant velocity loss and greater susceptibility to drift due to winds at longer range. While a bullet fired from a 700 LTR will easily travel to 1,000, it won't do so with the same degree of accuracy as one fired from its longer barrel counterpart. This doesn't make the LTR a lesser gun (yes, it is lesser because it is less in terms of size), but remember the lesson to select the weapon for the envisioned task.
