as primers are coming back there's variety again so i figured to try some Rem LRP in two of my ladder loads. of the 35 loaded rounds 5 wouldn't go off, even with multiple strikes. needless to say I'm reluctant to load anymore and I'll continue with my Win LRP. anyone else had this issue?

I never had that problem but my stock is over 20 yrs old. I would disassemble the rounds and find the cause. It could be several things, missing primer pack, missing anvil, no powder. Then make a decision to contact the mfg or use them.

LRP are scarce as can be around here. Have not seen any locally in 3+ yrs now.

Could be a few reasons. Which primer was it? Were they military or were they in the blue boxes? The military ones that winchester makes are hard. Also, which gun are you firing them from? Some firing pin springs can be pretty soft. Especially if there isn't much meat in the firing pin. We've been doing a lot of rifle research lately and we found lots of issues with firing pins.

Can you post lot numbers and pictures of the inside of a few loose primers? It will help identify them. There’s bound to be a few pages of posts of people reporting on pre-bankruptcy Remington primers. It might help make clear you’re only talking about post-Vista Remington products.

Our Sportsmen’s Warehouse has been carrying Remington large pistol primers for the past couple of weeks. They limit you to 2 bricks a day per person and are $57.95 so I’ve bought quite a few bricks. I haven’t used any, but will load some this evening and see how they do. The Remington small pistol primers I’ve bought from SW have worked fine, no problems in the 1300 reloads I’ve shot recently.

Photo looks like old stock (I have about 400 left of 1,000). Never had a single failure. First I would look at your seating depth, then the firing pin (similar problems on other brands of primers?) And finally, at the age and condition of your firing pin spring

looking at previous forum threads it seems that its a random problem that has occured in every brand of primers. I'll use them up in plinker rounds. A plus is they proved to me I don't have a flinch.

Haven't had that. I don't like Remington of today or yesteryear, just not a brand I like but there are 2 Remington products I'll buy. 7 1/2 (smr ) primers and remoil wipes. I hope if I find a fresh box of 7 1/2 primers they're consistent with previous experience, never had one single issue with them. I use them in some revolvers , not rifle cartridges because that's what dick casull called for and they've proven to be extremely consistent and #1 in my book. I've used them for anything that takes a small primer when I had an abundance but haven't seen any without shipping or hazmat for years now. You can bet if I see those specific ones for under $100 per 1000 in my hand im going to buy 5000+.

Can't comment on their other primer offerings or current available stock. I wouldn't pay a penny more than another brand for any of their other offerings though.

I bought 5K Remington 7-1/2 primers some months ago. Been happy with them. I've been using them in .40, .357 mag, and some 45ACP. Had to put heavier hammer springs in all my pistols to get 100% reliable ignition. They're okay in the Hi-Point 4095.
