Did anyone happen to come by the new Remington 7615 pump. it a pump action 223 remington. At first glance i got excited thinking it was a .410 with a detaxhable magazine. I was kina upset when i found out it was just a 223

Remington came out with a Mauser copy too. Sort of silly to me. They are big enough to make their own models IMO.

I believe the thinking here was that this new rifle would likely sell to law enforcement. The workhorse for police shotguns for years has been the Remington 870. Remington thinks this rifle would be an easy weapon to transition to and train officers on since they are already familiar with a pump action type weapon. It kind of looks like a piece of junk to me, but maybe for cash strapped agencies it would be a cheaper alternative to an AR-15?

Well I no big fan of Remington, but the 7600 is a great rifle. My dad's had one since the 50's. This isn't the first they've offered in .223.

I think the rifle's a natural for law enforcement. There is a lot to be said for familiarity with a single action. From the picture I'm guessing they've modified it to accept ar magazines. Cash strapped or not I think it would be a great rifle for the trunk of a patrol car.

Just my opinion, but I think it's another case of a solution in search of a problem. If I was a law enforcement officer, and I was in a situation where I needed a rifle, I think I'd want a semi-auto... And if I have to lug around AR magazines anyway, I could just as easily carry an AR, don't you think?

BTW, there was a review of this rifle in February's (I think) "Guns" magazine. The author was quite impressed by the rifle's 4MOA accuracy (using a Leupold scope, IIRC), and he particularly liked the way the stock recoil pad tamed the "brutal" recoil of the .223 round..

I can't speak to this one, but 7600's have been very accurate in my past experience. And there's no reason they shouldn't be. The action locks up solid. It's not an ar to be sure. Not everyone wants one.

The rifle was designed to be marketed to those Pechvogels who live in a certain west coast sissy state.

Rockstar, I have a tendency here to believe you. A PD strapped for cash could equip with Ruger Mini-14s over AR platform guns and still get the semi-auto firepower. They probably would spend roughly the same ammount of money.

And in general, my belief is what gets you home to the wife and kids is more important than what your gun looks like or it's mechanics. The only measure of success in a rifle is does it work well enough in well trained hands to get you home safe and sound.

Unfortunately, this certain petunia pickin' state full of the pansie a**ed idiots doesn't care about either the police or the civilians enough to provide an effective defensive weapon, so the pump action might just be the best thing given the circumstances.

If they'd chamber it in a meaningful caliber (say .308) and it took M1a magazines Remington would have something. A quickfiring rifle that you can take almost anywhere in the North American continent and be relatively sure it can put a halt to any trouble that starts, animal or human.

Of course it could also be argued that this rifle is being marketed to the flat state, trailer park dwelling necks that don't have enough money to buy a decent rifle because they spent last months welfare check on lotto tickets, Natty Light, and a bug guard for their '84 IROC.

I'll stick to my original assertion though that this rifle is directed towards the LE market.

I think it's a great rifle for LEO, but then again I don't feel particullary cozy with the fact that every Barney Fife in every little podunk town feels thet they need a hi-cap semiauto. If I had my way the issue long gun would be a marlin 30-30

The rifle is based on the 7600, they just point out that it functions very similarly to the 870. I'm basing this on the press release I saw in the American Rifleman. It has been available in .308 and 30-06 for years. We have a 10 round magazine for the 30-06, not sure who made it, but I don't think anything larger is currently available.

As for that, if we argue that every resident in every podunk town can have one why not every police officer? 2nd amendment applies to them as well.

It is aimed at the LE market. Not every department can afford or wants AR15s, but patrol rifles are becoming the norm. Remington saw a chance to grab a slice of the market, based upon the idea that the officers already know the manual of arms for a pump shotgun.

Personally, I think it will flop, but who knows?

If it's aimed at the l.e. market, then it'd only be l.e. agencies located in that aforementioned sissy state. (Where public perception of their l.e. agencies' political correctness is soooo important!)

Go out and buy a new AR in that sissy state and see how well you fare!

Just looked at gunsamerica and this gun is around ~$600 to almost $700. You can get an AR-15 for the same price. Hell for most people an AK would be cheaper and better then this rifle.

This is for those who live in states where they can't own an evil looking semi auto.
