Several months ago I posted that I had a 67E 12 gauge pump shotgun that would not release the slide after firing without pushing the release button. I took it apart and found that the spring that was supposed to be caught by a pin on the hammer was bent, the hammer and the pin that it pivoted on was worn enough to let the hammer move sideways quite a bit. I ordered the three parts from Numrich, installed them, and found that the gun was worse than before I started. I had to reshape the new spring before the hammer pin would catch it. I took the gun out a couple of days ago and it worked fine. I fired it, worked the slide (without having to push the release button), fired it, worked the slide, fired it, and ejected the last spent shell with no problems!

Congratulations on getting it running again. These are solid old shotguns but the slide release mechanism is sure a weak spot.
Before you shoot it too much put a drop of LockTite on the screw that holds the ejector in place. It it notorious for coming loose and losing the ejector. Ejectors are getting hard to find and therefore expensive so prevention is the best route to go.

Thanks, Kp321. I try to remember to do that before I take it out again. I worked with it enough lately that I don't care to do anything to it for a while. As soon as I knew it was working right, I took it home, cleaned it, put it in a gun-sock, and don't want to see it for a while. I like solving problems like that; but there is a limit to how far I'll go before I do anymore. I put it away 2 or 3 times and then got it back out and worked with it a bit more before I got it right!

I only ask because I traded a fellow an almost new, great functioning (once I had worked it over) 67E for a day old 1911-22 about a year ago.

DaveyMG, when I traded the .223 for the 67E, I was living in Waco, Texas. I liked the little .223, but didn't need it anymore and wanted a shotgun for bird season that was only about a month away. I had used the .223 for deer hunting in 1984; but the place that I had been hunting for two years was sold. The new owners wanted to use the place for bird hunting. It was about 60 miles from where I lived and didn't need to travel that far for bird hunting. I could hunt with out a lease on an employers place about 10 miles from where I lived. I had killed two deer in 1983 and three in 1984. I really didn't care to hunt them with a gun anymore. Anyone killing a deer is ok with me; but I just lost interest in it. I haven't hunted anything for a number or years because of age and health issues. I used to really enjoy hunting and fishing.
