Dont worry what caliber your partner carries. If she can shoot it good, thats all that really matters. Once you get out on the street you'll see that caliber matters a lot less than shot placement. One of the guys on my squad has been in two shootings with his .45 Glock 21. Both bad guys were shot at least 4 times including a headshot on both. Both of them survived. He actually was trying to go to a 9mm because he didnt like the penetration he got with his .45 (one guy he shot through a windshield as the guy tried to run him over) and dosnt like the feel of a .40. The dept no longer authorizes 9mm so he kept his .45.

BUT in shootings we have had with good shots, the .45 has worked really well.

Ive decided to stick with my Glock 22 because A) it holds more rounds B) has better penetration through barriers and C) I shoot it pretty damn well.

Theres always a trade off when choosing a duty weapon.

I talked to a cop today and I guess the problem they were having with HK's wasn't the gun themselves, but when they were doing quick reloads and letting the magazines hit the floor the mag's were breaking.

I was unaware of this problem, but I just got mine last weekend.

Has anyone else on this thread had or heard of the same?

Yes, thank you for the advice.

And for everyone who's helped with similar words of advice, being a Marine Weapons instructor and pistol coach, I know that accuracy is the 2nd most important part of shooting. And I would say that bullet construction/quality follows accuracy. Then caliber.

On the question of the tritium sights:
Tooltech does custom work for Trijicon. They worked on the stock sights of my USP45 Tac, adding bars in the rear and a dot in the front. They looked 100% factory. Their work is world class.....many top notch competitive shooters use them as well.

On the magazine issue:
There have been a few cases of base plates cracking when being dropped on concrete (ask about this at HKPro.com). The baseplates are fairly inexpensive and and easy to replace. There are also some after market metal baseplates that have been made in small batches (again ask about them on HKPro.com). But most of the damage to the baseplates happened with FULL mags. I have never had one break on me, and the ranges that I use are all concrete floors or asphalt. Most HK owners have never had a problem.

I think you are making a great choice with the HK45. I think more officers would use the HK series of pistols if they were given a choice.

Yeah, I suppose a heavier mag with rounds would be more prone to breaking.

I tried to check that other website out and register, but having problems. lol
