Revolver or semiautomatic

Actually I'm in the hunt for a new handgun. Looking at a Glock G43X because of its concealability and its capacity. I own several revolvers and "0" semi-autos.

Depends on what I run into. I have a 1911 at the top of the 'Buy' list, but I have a certain few pistols, revolvers and autos, on the Very Short List that would come first if opportunity struck.

If you were going to buy a new handgun would you buy a revolver or semiautomatic? And why would you choose that particular handgun?

For what purpose am I buying this handgun? And in this hypothetical do I still have the various pistols (revolvers and semi-autos) that I already own? Or is this going to be my only pistol? Also, do I already know how to shoot pistols?

I am currently not jonesing for a new handgun. The last four I bought were semi autos. I just happened on two of them, both Colt Commanders in .38 Super, an older model Combat and more recent Lightweight. A Kimber 1911 LW because it was on sale, also a Walther PPK/S .22 because I regretted selling a PPK and the .22 was also on sale. So if either a revolver or semi came along that floated my boat, I would buy it.

My most recent handgun purchase was a Sig 365. My G19 and G43 have been lonely since.

With 10+1 magazines it is smaller than my G43

And with 12+1 magazines I don't feel I'm giving up much compared to the much larger G19. And I CAN buy 15 round magazines for it.

I like the 1911 style safety and shoot it every bit as well as most full size pistols

I have a lengthy list of handguns I'd like to acquire someday.
Another SAA, 3" K frame, Browning HP, 1872 open top, Sig 220 in 10mm, etc

So... It sorta depends on what I find a good deal on first LOL

I enjoy historical or old guns. A lot of times, that means revolvers.

Don't get me wrong, I also enjoy more modern handguns, but I have what (for right now) I want.
Someday, I just know it, I'll buy a Glock... but that's a ways off.

i only have 3 semi's now. i am on the fence trying myself to decide, one more semi or revolver, and IF a revolver, most likely a 357, just don't know what make/model yet

Probably another semi in 10mm. I'm torn between a kimber 1911 or another striker fired.

I have pocket guns, Micro 9mm's and Revolvers. No need for more carry guns. And they are all DAO. I also shoot for total enjoyment so if I buy another it is just for fun. Could be anything that hits my fancy.

Yes, probably. But I do have an old XP-100 bolt action, single-shot that I'm fond of. And I've shot a few break-action single shots that were okay too.:D
And why would you choose that particular handgun?
I've bought two semi-autos in the last few months - a Glock 44 and a Glock 19. I bought the Glock 44 as a fun little .22LR plinker, and I liked it so much, I bought the Glock 19 (gen 5) because it's the same size (only lighter) as my Glock 44. I'm going to use my Glock 19 for EDC as soon as this "stay-at-home" thing is over and I can get out and shop for a holster.
That said, I'm probably going to buy a little Ruger revolver in 327 Federal next. I want a new trail/kit/fishing gun, and I think a little 327 Federal loaded with 32 H&Rs (cast bullets) would be nice for that.:)
What I'm trying to get at is, I've had, and have different types and sizes of handguns for different purposes - some of them dreamed up for sure. But unlike having A wife, I'm allowed to have more than one.
BTW, I'll have been married to my wife for 49 years come June, and she likes and has a bunch of different types and sizes of handguns too. Maybe that's one of the reasons we've been married so long.;)

Revolver. I'm a gentleman with class and sophistication:rofl:, I have some semi autos and they have a use and are used well. After absolute utility needs are covered (by auto loaders) the rest will be revolvers for me. No chasing brass, no trouble feeding bullets with effective profiles, no difference in cycling very light loads all the way up to loads that would send EVERY bottom feeder directly to the scrap pile if even one round were touched off. Better triggers, more natural point and click operation, on and on ... There's no comparison, unless you're looking for capacity or concealability- besides those 2 the semis got nothing going for them.

If you were going to buy a new motorized vehicle, what would you choose?

Purpose a big difference for purchase - pretty hard to haul 3 kids in a coupe, hard to race motocross in a minivan, hard to haul hay on a motorcycle.

Horses for Courses.

If I want a carry pistol, I’m going to buy a pistol. If I want a hunting revolver, I’m going to buy a magnum revolver.

I've got the hots for a 9mm 1911 with a double stack magazine. Been looking and not many models available. I have 2 revolvers so I don't really have a hankering for another one.
