Riding a motorcycle and friends go to a bar...

I have ridden a Harley in some form since 62 and can testify
that few have a CCW to go with what their choice of carry is.
This is the first I have heard of being challenged if they carry.
In fact the only challenge that I have noticed is refusal to serve
a patch wearer. The patches might be difficult to conceal, but
unless a pat down, who would know if you carry CONCEALED.

That's a tough call. It really depends on how well you know these people. If they're your lifelong friends and any one of them would be the godfather of your kids, then I would probably quietly let them know about the situation before hand. If they are just friends, but not great friends, then I would probably ask someone to order for me and bring it out, because I wanted to eat outside on this lovely day.
If it's not a lovely day, then I wouldn't be riding my bike?

I think it should be illegal to go armed if you've been drinking, the same way it is with driving.

I would have rode on, saying that I don't like going to bars.

I think you would be shocked at how many people have a CCW, even if they dont use it. I travel nationwide, and honestly it is just shocking how many people have a CCW or want to get one. In fact I am in a building now where someone out of the blue asked about pistols and I brought up my favorite brand. Then a few other people chimed in, it turned out that in a room of 6 people 2 of us had CCW permits and one is in the process of getting one, I think we even convinced another employee to get one. Be proud to carry, not afraid, besides if they dont like your choice do you really want them as your friends?

been there done that

Went riding on a poker run sunday. stopped at a bar, never disarmed. No body knew. I don't drink... it was one of the places to check in at.

My local trap club sells beer, and people actually consume it between rounds. :neener:

I'm surprised I haven't seen the motorcycles of THR! So here's the first one. No real good place to put a lockbox. Even in the saddlebags you'd have easy access to it.

Like I said, mine is prettier...

Pretty is fine if you're looking at girls! Mine looks more ominous. And that's the image I'm trying to project.

Well, first off. I don't drink. In Virginia you can't carry (legally) concealed in a place that serves alcohol. Open carry is legal in them however. So if I wanted to go in, I'd uncover. OH NO!!! They'll find out you've got a gun.

So? I've got a gun. I've got a pocket knife, a ballpoint pen, a pair of sunglasses too. It's just a "thing." If someone doesn't like it, it's their problem, not mine.

Of course if I want to leave it behind, it's not too hard.

:scrutiny:  It is not illegal to drive if you have been drinking. It is illegal if you have been drinking more than a certain amount, as measured in BAC.

That is not what this thread is about. I was talking about entering a bar with a gun while NOT drinking. I would be happy if my state laws simply required me to open carry in a bar. At least then I wouldn't have to leave my group!
Actually, the current law here encourages people to leave their gun locked in a motorcycle, an insecure location, in order to obey the law for CCW in a bar. It would leave the gun open to theft much more than if it were on my hip!!! Maybe people should think, before they impose laws that only allow people to feel safe.

BTW, mine is faster :D

I don't really see the issue of just sticking your gun in the trunk of your bike. (the trunk tells me its a sport bike. I ride a Hayabusa Myself) I throw my 80 gig iPod in my "trunk" daily and im not worried about it. granted I also cover my bike when its parked at work, but still. if you are that concerned pull the Mag and leave the gun on the bike. im sure the law doesn't prohibit you from carrying just the mag.

Edit: didn't realize we were posting bike pics. Nice cruisers, but I know you guys can't keep up with me.

Since I have a bagger, I lock mag in one side and the weapon on the other side. Places I avoid are the Poser Bike Nights that occur around here. Not only are they packed but too many end up drunk. We ride in a small group and meet up with the others a number of small bars around the city which are generally located in the not-so-great part of town. In the 15yrs we've done this we have never had anyone screw with our bikes.

I just installed cup holders for my beer, and a handle bar mounted SMG, neither of which is pictured below. [/calmdownitsajoke]

Biker said.
Most of the bars I bounced in asked if you were carrying a weapon before they let you in the door. If you said no, they offered to let you borrow one.
I think I've been there.

I'd love to show her off, but all I have is a 35mm camera and no scanner. She's a 1949 Shovel/Pan - '49 Panhead bottom, '75 Shovelhead top.

Bored, stroked, cammed, tall gears, 1/.75" straights, raked and stretched frame, 8" over wide-glide, fatbobs, apes, black and chrome.

She's kick-start-only which is why I wear a .45 on my left ankle and a spur on my left boot. Otherwise, my right leg would be much bigger than my left.
