I am also looking for a Ruger Carbine for a reasonable price. Not $900 as that was the last one I found. I have a NEF for now and it is a good shooter.
They make derringers if you don’t like the revolver... just sayin...I appreciate consolidating guns in one caliber but THIS is my problem. For the same money I can have one of these! But I do not want a revolver in 45-70. View attachment 882229
Why not .45 Colt or .44-40? The folks that first came up with the concept because they needed it used those calibers.22 lr/22 mag/357 mag/44 mag are the ones to have in the pistol/rifle combo.
Maybe .32-20 or .38-40, but not .45. Neither the '73 or '92 Winchesters were chambered in .45 Colt. Why not .45 Colt or .44-40? The folks that first came up with the concept because they needed it used those calibers.

I have the same combos, but add .45 Colt Rossi lever gun/Old Vaquero (And a .454 SRH) to the list.Combos in .22LR, .22WMR, 9mm, .357 Mag, and .44 Mag. Just like the versatility.
I have a Colt AR and a KelTec PLR-16, both 5.56NATO and take the same mags. Also have a KT RDB to throw in the mix-same cartridge and mags. Also have a T/C Contender and Winchester 94, both in .30-30.

I have three single action revolvers, all in .45 Colt. Since I also reload for that cartridge it seemed perfectly logical that I should get a lever action rifle that fired the same cartridge. Only problem was finding one because at the time Marlins and Rossis were in short supply. Finally found one at a gun show that was used but like new in the box. It was a Rossi R92 carbine with a 16" barrel and large loop lever. What made it even sweeter was that I had just bought a Beretta Stampede in .45 Colt at another table! It was like everything fell into place perfectly that day!
