Rossi 92 or Henry Steel ?

Can't help you on the Rossi or Henry, but I have a Marlin 1894 CSS in 357 and it is a definite keeper. You should include the Marlin in your analysis.

Rossi 92, hands down, any day of the week and twice on Sunday. The 1892 is a John Browning masterpiece. It is everything you need and nothing you don't in a pistol cartridge levergun design. The Henry is a big, overweight, overpriced clunker.

As far as customer service, people ALWAYS parrot the same thing about how great Henry's customer service is. Personally, I don't see it as a positive thing that so many people are so familiar with their customer service. It's a big red flag to me that so many people have needed their customer service. Just as I don't ever want to be too friendly with my mechanic. Yeah, it's great that they handle issues well but there shouldn't be any issues to begin with.

I also find it interesting that so many think Henry's quality is so high. I always considered them cheap guns. Although I did handle the Evil Roy .22 model and liked it, it's still a distant fourth behind Winchester, Marlin and Browning.

They were made during a relatively small window, and are incredibly hard to find. Which is understandable considering what the company has been through the past 5 years or so. That's why they go for what they do. You would be doing good just to get a hold of a blued 1894C.

I think the OP is asking about a .357 lever gun that is readily available. Or maybe would rather buy brand-new.

I have no experience with either gun being compared, but I see that most Henry owners are satisfied and the company stands behind their products. Most of my .22 rifles are tube fed, so that aspect does not bother me as much as it may for some.

Hopefully not resurrecting a dead thread, but...

I have an EMF Hartford (ie. Rossi) version, 24" octagonal bbl in 45Colt. Absolutely no issues in almost ten years. Shoot mostly plinking-level reloads but have almost a whole box of TC/Ruger-level 250 grain XTP/H110 loads thru it (ouch, steel buttplate). Still runs like the day I bought it from a SASS friend for a price that would make you cry (couldn't pass it up).

Funnest gun I own.

I've dealt with Henry.

They stand by their products, in a fashion that is almost ridiculous - it's almost like they will deliver replacement parts as they are talking to you on the phone.

I went with the Rossi. I posted a review here the other day. Works flawless, I'm very happy with it.

This blows my mind. I'd really rather not need replacement parts!!!
