# 3 is still my favorite one😄😄
I agree, especially with the full size modular stock.

That 18.5" factory cold hammer forged barrel has been impressive during 6500 rounds I shot through consistently producing 1/2"-3/4" groups with CCI SV and 3/4"-1" groups with Aguila at 50 yards (1.25"-1.5" at 100 yards) regardless cold or hot after 600+ round range sessions. And chamber/rifling remained pristine. Remarkable (Nod to Ruger). And after CPC reworked the factory bolt, flyers subsided.👍

And now as "your" Collector #3, it will certainly be a "good friend". :)

So, what's the flash hider for? I actually chuckled a little, as it would be the first thing I would remove.

Other than that, pretty nice looking rifle.

If plastic and aluminum are your thing then have at it.
T/CR22 came with Magpul MOE X-22 stock and I really like it way more than walnut wood stock. Since it comes with removable insert for free floating bull barrel, Collector #3 receiver/trigger group (Rest went to @irishlad)/Power Custom bolt and 16.5" KSA bull barrel came together well and shrank Aguila 3/4"-1" groups down to sub 1/2"-3/4" - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...nition-comparison.908102/page-2#post-12812234

I picked up one of the Collector No. 6s on Saturday as my first ever 10/22. Why do you ask did I buy a collector model? It had all the features I wanted for a better price than what I could buy a used one and spec it. Fixed stainless barrel. Threaded barrel. Iron sights w/ peep and pic rail. Ruger BX Trigger. Magpul X-22 stock. All for under $500. I understand I can buy a used carbine for like $200 $250 if I’m patient. But I didn’t want a used carbine. I wanted all the features listed.

When did 1022s become collectible?
According to who? If plastic and aluminum are your thing then have at it. Just another gimmick.

Choice is a good thing. 10/22s have a huge following(me included) and some are models special to them. I like #3s and LVTs. Just like Marlin 99 M1 and Winchester 62 appeal to some folks. I doubt me belittling them on a thread about them would change their opinion of them or even be beneficial to the thread. The ignore option is a nice choice to have too😀

The collector series is an example of democracy at work. The original was designed by an Appleseed shooter as a factory ready LTR. Ruger has followed that by offering slightly different variations every year. 17yrs ago I went to a good bit of trouble to build something similar, by machining a Volquartsen extended pic rail mounted backwards to cantilever over a Tech Sights rear sight.

A few years later, Nodak/Spud offered a pic rail with an integrated rear sight. I bought three.

Years later, when I got into suppressors, I had to send the carbine barrel out to be threaded and a front sight remounted. The collector series combines all those features and eliminates all that for a fraction of what it cost me. Folks can get triggered by the word "collector", denigrate aluminum and plastic or dismiss it as a gimmick but it is still a fine rifle with some features that many find useful.

I have parts of two, receiver and bolt only and I have worked on the bolts. The rest of the rifles are aftermarket or purpose built by me. The only model I would have kept unaltered was the full length stock model but the two I have shot so poorly out of the box I was always afraid to take a chance on it. A quick search of Ruger's websire doesn't show it in the lineup anymore.

This new one does nothing at all for me. It's just another 10/22 in a plastic stock with some type muzzle devise stuck on it.
