I recently bought the new Ranch rifle from Ruger in 7.62x39. i was wondering about anyone else who has some experience with it. I want to work up some loads for it. I may even play around with some subsonic loads too, eventually.
But for now, i am just trying to get it set up. Im wanted to see if anyone is shooting this rifle, what distances you're getting, if you all are home loading for it and what optics you all are using?
I've shot AKs and SKSs out to 400 yards well enough so i know this little bolt gun can muster it. Just curious about accuracy.

I kind of want to get a Ruger American, but I am holding out for something cheaper with a little more polymer incorporated into it, and more resembling a Savage.

Like an Axis? :p

Ive been considering the x39 Rar myself. I had one in 300aac that was quite accurate and handled wonderfully.

I want to pick up a ranch in x39 to throw a fixed 3 or 4 power scope for a knock around rifle. Better yet, I hope they make one in the Grendel using the mini 30 mags. I know they have the predator model in the Grendel, but mini mags would rock for this...

This is my new brush gun. Here in swpa most whitetail shots are around 60 yards. I have plenty of long distance lead lobbers but need to work on my short game. I just finished a 300blk but it's a damned heavy gun for only having a 16" pipe. I add the 1# suppressor and it's Hollywood quiet but heavier the my K98.
I'm building the 39 to use in my thick stand and overlooking the swamp which are choked with old fruit trees and Willow scrub. Furthest shot might be 150 yards at most.

This here is my Savage I built. Formerly a 12FV in .223 1in12" tackdriver. It killed a lot of woodchucks. I decided I wanted a .300 blackout and didn't want to pander to Remington and AAC for the only, at that time, bolt gun in .300blk. Currently, as seen, I have the trigger down to 3# and have a custom barrel from E.R. Shaw. Its bedded in a Tikka aluminum stock. She's a heavy bitch. Especially with the Yankee Hill Phantom Suppressor adding an extra pound, dry. It was topped with a Weaver scope, the one I used for chucks. I'm opting for a 3x or 4x scope now that's it's a 300

I have trouble with the mags on mine, they are hard to get in and out, and one of the 10-rounders I bought from ShopRuger dot com has a sticky follower, which stops part way up when full. Probably needs cleaning and dressing of the plastic follower. The rifle shoots sweet, I love it. I've only shot 25 yards so far, with a See All Nite Site to keep it light and handy.

Ive been pondering buying a RAR in x39mm myself. I have one in 5.56/223 thats very handy and i have a CZ 527 carbine in x39mm that is a shooter!

I dont really need one but ive just about sold myself that i dont want to drag my CZ through the woods so i could buy the RAR and it be my little woods gun.

I look foward to hearing more about the avg accuracy to expect from them.

@TN Outlaw , yeah I'm there with you. I can't wait to get some time to do some shooting with it. I was thinking of a straight 4x scope on it but I may just put a 3-9x on it. I've got about 7 of them laying around so.
I also can't wait to work up some custom loads for it. I'm expecting good things. All the Rugers i currently have are good shooters

I ran a 1-4x20 shotgun scope in the lowest mounts i could find, on my RAR. Handled as well or better than any lever gun ive carried. They are so small it really seems wierd to have anything larger than a 32mm obj on them.
