re: how to post pics?

i would like to share my m-30 with you. how do i post pics?

The easiest way to share pics is to get a free photo hosting account with a site like Photobucket. Upload your pics there. It will automatically generate the code for posting a picture in web forums. It'll look something like {IMG}Full URL of Picture{/IMG}, except that the curly brackets will be replaced with square brackets. You just paste that code into your post and your picture will appear when someone reads it.

Mini 14 and 5.56 ammo ?

I'm sure this has been covered before but I can't find it. I have an early polished stainless mini that was previouly a police dept. weapon. I also have about 400 rds. of Hirtenberger 5.56 and another 300 rds. of some bulk foreign made or reloaded 5.56 of questionable quality. My question is can 5.56 ammo be safely fired in a Mini-14? Thanks for the reply in advance.

I have always been told the Mini-14 came with a 5.56MM chamber to allow itto fire all ammo. Call Ruger directly, if you want, and ask them - I am a neophyte to Minis.

The best way to describe your gun would be to give the serises number, which is the first 3 digits of the serial number. For example, I have a stainless series 188 LE trade in :D.

i am buying my first ruger mini 14 tomorrow. I want the kit to make it 3 burst auto. What do i do?

Yep, going to meet me professionally if you do that. Stay out of prison, stay away from illegally converted full auto/burst fire. If you want an AC-556, go find one for sale, follow all the tangles BATFE has for you to follow, and enjoy. Otherwise, either learn to love semi-auto, or a guy named Bubba.

I just picked up a 182- stainless gb mini 14 with 2 factory 20s it was a mississippi highway patrol trade in, when did they make the 182 ser? csa

csa, you can do a search at Ruger's website for serial numbers & the time they were built.

Ny'er: they dont export these to PK.

However, I found a manual to make it auto on a different site. Plus I found a local dealer who has kit to make it a trio burst. That would be fun!

Just joined the club last weekend... plan on doing my initiaion by fire on Saturday. What does everyone consider the primary upgrades for a typical Mini-14? I'm thinking front sight and barrel shroud minimally as I prefer Garand style sights.

Now that I have my mini 14, I want to know what accessories can go on it and what about the scope/mounts?

Get the Accu-Strut,and an adjustable gas block. Those are the two things I have been told over and over again make the most differance in accuracy...and on my to-do list. Ruger SHOULD have included scope mounts, but if not, I happen to have a set of Ruger 1 inch blued factory rings laing about I am not using. CDNNinvestments carries a small rail that clamps on the scope mounts. There is also a upper handguard replacement that has a Picatinny rail on it.

I posted these pics over at perfectunion also....I also agree the accustrut is one of the best and cheapest accuracy upgrades for the Mini (along with a trigger job and stock bedding)

Question: how do you tell what series a mini is?

By the first three digits of the serial number, in the format "xxx-".

Good info, Thanks!

I always wondered when mine was made. I have had it for many-many years and don't even remember where I bought it or what I paid for it. Mine is a 181series made 1977-1980.

Rockman42, that is a sick mini.....

No serisously, that is pretty badass ;). Did you glassbed yourself? If not, how much was the charge? I been thinkin about bedding my mini but haven't been able to justify a bunch of mods to it yet; I'm sure if I get started I'll end up with $500 into it.

Also, whatcha got on your muzzle? Supressor?
