How Much Are The Factoryfolding Stocks Going For Now? Reason I Ask I Know Where I Can Get One, But From What I Can Tell I Dont Like It,looks Good! Feals Not So Good To Me Anyway, Csa

I think the butler creek folder is going for like 100, mebbe 150. That's the most I would pay for a folder. NY'er posted a link to a pretty cool stock, but for my application I try and stay away from the EBR look; not to keep people from going "look at his assault rifle," more to keep me from spending too much on tacticool stuff and because it really doesn't need it as far as I'm concerned.

For what its worth: I think folders are cool and all, but unless you need to put it in a tight spot they just make the mini a big HEAVY pistol when folded.

We've had several recent posts in the Rifle forum regarding Mini-14s, so I thought it would be a good time to bump the Ruger Mini-14 Club back to the top for a bit.

New members welcome. :)

I just picked mine up used (add in the Thrifty Nickle) for 475.00$ W/ 20 round mag and 5 boxes of ammunition.

When I got it home and broke it down it became very evident that it had been a safe queen, the trigger assembly still had packing grease on it. and I could still feel burrs on it from the machine shop.

It's a wood stock 187 series serial number and the only defect I saw on it was right in the middle of the barrel they got some chip wrap on it that didn't come out W/ the finish turn.

I've been seeing them go for 1000.00$ in the paper here so I think I got a good deal

As for the AR vs. MINI thing I shot M-16s (A-1 & A-2s) in the Army & they just never really impressed me. Now that I'm out the last thing I want is to show up at the range W/ an "Assault Rifle" I like being the guy W/ the vanilla gun. That & the fact that M-16s are a bear to clean

I guess I'm new to the mini 14 club too. I had one fall into my lap a few weeks ago. I wasn't looking for one, but a friend had a 181 series collecting dust in his closet and was looking for a pistol for CCW. He asked if I would ever consider trading one of my pistols for his mini. It just so happened that I had a Wilson ADP that I no longer carried and I offered that for trade. He liked the size, caliber, and night sights and offered me the mini, a bipod stand (which has since been removed), a scope (which I don't like due to the b- square mount- so it was also removed), a 20 round magazine, 3 30 round magazines, and about 200 rounds of ammo. We called it an even swap. Now instead of collecting dust in his closet, it's collecting dust in my safe. I haven't shot it yet, nor do I know too much about the particular weapon - other than what I've read on the web since the transaction- so I don't know who got the better of the deal. I'll take a pic and post it next time it comes out of the safe.

Can't say I can tell you that my score W/ my M-16 improved tremendously after I got my own Mini (the first one) and practiced W/ it

I just bought a Mini 14 185 series. My ten year old loves. Now, claims it as his "own".
Sometimes, it fails to feed. And sometimes it feeds 2. I am using a Ruger factory 20 rounder. Is that a gas block issue or a good cleaning?

:(When I'm feeling down and blue, I grab my Kmini, and a fifty cal. ammo box, full of that good ole junk steelcased, dirty powder, gooey lacquer sealed, berdan primed, WOLF ammo and a couple of overpriced,20 factory mags, and head to the range, put on the muffs and don't quit yanking on the trigger 'till the blues goes away, the barrels smokin' and a big ear to ear grin takes its' place.

Thank you kindly Mr. Bill Ruger thank you:D

AR-15. An out-of-the-box AR-15 shooting match ammunition will shoot better than any mini except the high-end target model. High-end AR's are more accurate than most bolt-actions.

Rock River Arms guarantees that most of their rifles will shoot 1.5 MOA and their precision rifles will shoot 0.75 MOA, out of the box, with match ammunition. I'm sure AR's from most manufacturers will do similarly well.

Very well put.

You guys' guns are beautiful.

1) How many states had LEOs who were issued a Mini 14 - just a few?

2) Were any states' LEOs issued the Mini 30, other than those at Pelican State Prison in CA?

Second topic:
In case it has not been noticed by many, "GunBroker.com" has four full pages of Mini 14s for sale, many apparently unfired, or very little.
What is going on with so many 14s listed there? Is it the increasing prices for .223 ammo, being more than increases for 7.62 x39, or just the problems with the economy?

I think it's cause the ARs are so hot right now, that's the only 5.56/.223 people want. Also, Minis have a somewhat deserved reputation for poor accuracy. But the new Mini 14s, will give an AR a run for it's money. I have a new 580 NRA Mini 14 and a 16 RRA AR, both are about equal in accuracy... even with a hot barrel.

The Mini is definitely heavier than a 16" AR, but then again Rugers are sturdy gerties. As a bonus, the Mini 14 doesn't look quite as evil.

I'm thinking of either a Mini-14, or an AR-15. I am leaning toward the Mini-14, due to its slightly lower cost, as I am on a budget.
