I have a Ruger MK II Target 5-1/2" Bull Barrel that I recently purchased a holster for. The way the front sight on the gun is angled back to a sharp point towards the receiver makes it a real pain to get out of the holster. I was thinking of grinding the point off or even ramping it towards the front, but after looking at it I realized that in doing so I will reduce the height of the front blade. Does anyone make an aftermarket front sight blade that is more holster friendly? It looks like my only option if not may be to do some welding, grinding, and then re-blue the front blade.:barf:

I have a hi-vis fiber optic front sight on my 22/45, and I would think its only marginally more holster friendly. It does show up way better than the stock front sight though.

There used to be a nice, plain ramp replacement for that model and I've kicking myself so hard for not picking one up.

Yep, I would much rather have had a ramp sight. I never understood why Ruger designed the front sight the way they did. Oh well, mine is no longer sharp. I took the files to it and made the sharp point nice and round. It still angles back but it is round enough that it doesn't snag. I've got plenty of adjustment to lower my rear sight, so I think I will be OK. If not, I will build it up with my wire welder and shape it the way ol "Bill" should've done it to begin with.

I thought decent holsters were deigned with a "sight tunnel" to avoid such issues.
