Hi,
Had my Ruger Mk II 10" bull barrel threaded.
The front sight was moved rearward some to clear the threaded area (new screw hole in top of barrel).
It used to hit dead on point of aim.
Now at 10 feet, with rear sight cranked full down (lowering impact point), it hits about 3/4" high. The rear sight can not go down any further.
Gun smith suggested a "suppressor height" front sight.
Can't find one.
OEM front sight is about 0.44 tall. Like this:

This looks to be the same height as the OEM one:

Would this work/help:

Not sure I want to go with a holo or red dot sight.
Would need to fit the rear dovetail and be small.
Did look at this:
Burris FastFire Mounting Plate - Ruger Mark I II III, Matte Black 410329
Burris FastFire III Red Dot Reflex Sight - 3 MOA Dot, No Mount 300235
About $300.

Appreciate any input on this.
Thanks
Gom :)

a quick fix would be to shim the front sight up a bit. Not a long term solution, but should work until you find a good replacement. 3/4" at 10 feet would call for a pretty big (comparatively) shim. 2-3 layers of soda can thickness aluminum should suffice. Once again, this would be a temporary fix, until you can locate a taller sight or thicker proper shim.

Another option is to deepen the notch in the rear sight slowly and gently with the appropriate file.

The standard rear sight sits lower, if you don't think you really need and adjustable rear sight.

Also, towards the end of this article there's a good explanation for determining how much you need to raise the front sight.

I think I would find someone with a tig welder and put a glob of weld material on the front sight that you could then file down to the correct height.

That is, before, I would spend three hundred bucks on a ten dollar fix.

epoxy a light pipe right on top of your existing front sight. That would boost it some. I don't know how tall you need to go though. You could also will the screw holes and cut a dovetail in the barrel and install any number of tall front blades.
