I wonder if that is the brand (Ruger) of gun or the type of gun. It depends what you are used to. For me there seems to be a weight and carry mode with which I need suspenders, but I do whatever is necessary, including choice of fashion, to feel adequately armed. There clearly is a need for me to have a summer carry and a winter carry as a function of wardrobe and the need to conceal.I am the odd man. I find Rugers to be heavier revolvers than I care to carry either for hunting, duty or self defense. I see no need for the extra weight.

Double action steel I concur, but I find the 5.5” Blackhawk easy to carry.I am the odd man. I find Rugers to be heavier revolvers than I care to carry either for hunting, duty or self defense. I see no need for the extra weight.

I've had two of the bisley versions . amazing guns.Now if I could just find an ankle holster.
Seeing alot of love for Colt and S&W lately and rightfully so , just thought I'd try to even things up with my new to me ruger redhawk .45 Colt/ACP.

Kevin;
The 4.2" Ruger GP-100 weighs 40 oz. and the 4.1" S&W Model 686 weighs 39.7 oz. Is 0.3 oz. too much extra weight for you??
The Blackhawk is built on a larger frame the the Colt SAA.
