New SR22 is not functioning properly. The trigger does not consistently reset and even failed to set on initial cock once. I've tried manipulating different things in different ways to isolate the problem. I've found that I can remove the mag, reinsert and upon reinserting the mag, the trigger will reset. I started with cheap ammo, then tried Fed and Wolf match before posting (I knew somebody would call me out on the thunderbolts..). Any thoughts?

Pictures, cause we all like pictures;)

No, but I have since and tried another mag of the wolf ammo. It's about to garner my opinion as a sure enough piece of junk.

Disconnector or mag safety hanging up.
Most likely the latter.

Does it do it with both magazines or just the same one every time?

Same issue with both mags. It looked like the mag safety is in the mag well on the front / trigger side. I put a few drops of clp in there and inserted / removed the mag a few times. I got frustrated with it and wiped in down and put it up. Good news is the kids were not home yesterday afternoon and I had not told them about it yet.

Took ours out for its initial spin yesterday. Super X ammo kept failing to eject. And once, it failed to re cock..or something weird like that, cant recall exactly. Happens fast, and Im still concentrating on keeping my weapon pointed downrange more than anything else.

If the hammer is all the way back and the trigger is still back (like it had been puled), then that would be the same issue I'm having. I think RC is right about the mag safety, but I'm not sure what to do about it.

Hopefully we'll get them figured out because they're neat little pistols...if they would just work... :-/

Mine has been nothing but flawless and shoots everything I've fed it. It's the early model with "pistol" on the slide.

Then again. Haven't shot it in at least a year dye to lack of finding ammo.

Send it in, or take it back for a swap. ruger has great customer service.

That would be my advice. I don't own an SR-22 (yet) but I do own 4 other Ruger handguns and their customer services has always been nothing short of amazing. They'll pay for it to be shipped back and will make it right.

I had one for about five minutes. Trigger didn't reset and double action was nearly impossible. Didn't hit anywhere near point of aim from rest. BTW, I'm not a Ruger hater. I have nine other Ruger handguns and they are all keepers.

I had horrible accuracy issues with mine. I sent it back to Ruger and they replaced the barrel and did some rested accuracy tests. Shot like a champ after that. Just an FYI that their service was good.

I have an early model, runs flawlessly with everything I've tried even 333 round cheap bulk packs. I have to agree the double action trigger sucks. Other than that I love it.

I did call and they sent me out a box. I would have been very mad if I had to pay for shipping.... My problem was there out of the box. 1 week - very fast.

I had a ball with mine. Even came back for a curtain call and went through another box of ammo after I packed the car up at the range the other day.

When I first handled the sr22, I was struck by how many safeties it has. I couldn't help but think how, with so much interdependence of systems (mag, safety, trigger) it seemed far more likely to have issues with the trigger becoming disabled.

That said, the sr22 my wife gave me last Christmas has been nothing but pleasant to shoot. Accurate and consistent. The safety is opposite my other pistols with manual safeties, but I pretend it's a decocker and move on.

I would send it back or swap it. Everyone deserves a second chance. I can almost always forgive a first mistake, so long as the company makes obvious effort to make it right.

The safety on mine acts as a de-cocker.

Off to Ruger. I'll update once I get it back just so potential customers will know what to expect for their CS.

The hit list:
Description of Problem: ____________________________________________________
1) Trigger does not consistently reset. If mag is removed, then reinserted, trigger will reset.
2) Double Action is Very Firm / Gritty. (I'm really just curious what they'll say about that ;) )
3) Red finish indicating pistol is on ‘fire’ looks like it was not installed properly on left side. Please take a look and if it is not up to Ruger standard, repair. (You can see it in the pic above) Thank You,
