I have seen several references to "Super Single Six" in post on this forum. Ruger's website doesn't show it as an offering and wondered what made a Single Six "Super". I have a Stainless with mag cylinder made a few years ago, does that qualify or do they exist but no longer made?

Not a big deal but something I was wondering about.

I'm no expert, just picked up my first one two months ago. Mine was made in 1973, it's a super. My understanding was the "super" referred to having adjustable sights.

Super, I'm pretty sure, was the adjustable sighted version. Not sure if both cylinders were needed for that appellation or not. I know I have one, transfer bar, 6 1/2", blue, adj sights, and both 22/22wmr. And with the 22 lr barrel it is on par with my Colt Woodsman for accuracy.

That ‘73 vintage SS looks great .

Stay safe.

Agree with PapaG. Mine was also made in '73. I keep the WMR cylinder in it. I have other .22LRs. Good shooting gun.
