Nondescript beat me to it.....love that movie........
how 'bout.."Ruger,if you run out of ammo it makes a hell of a club..."I say this as a ruger lover(SP101 CCW,Speed six,10/22).......

<<How about everyone read this........>>

Interesting article. It leads me to believe that Bush Sr. should be given at least as much credit for the gun and magazine ban as Clinton. After all, it looks like most of the provisions were put together during his adminstration. And it took a lot of Republicans in congress to help get it passed. (Speaking as a life long Republican)

Seems like the only intelligent part of the bill was the Sunset provision.

In retrospect, it looks like they had a pretty good plan - they let them try the ban and then pointed out that it didn't work. It beats the heck out of decade after decade of arguing over it.

I do have a question though. Why doesn't Ruger put the owner's manual on the barrel in English and Spanish? It would give their guns more of a fully engraved look.

And I love that "...smaller than a canned ham" slogan.

Got a response back from Ruger today. The letter I sent to them was exactly what I first posted here.
Overall, pretty quick response; they also included a Ruger patch.
Basically a nice brushoff without really addressing my concerns.Mentioned that they have been using the "responsible citizen" slogan for awhile - my inattention on thinking it was new.
Mentioned that P-series still have 15 rounders available, looked on the website and that is correct, but only for 9mm and only blued. I don't know, but I'd guess that a P-series 40S&W could probably hold 13-15, so they're still restricting us (well, actually you in the US- I live in PRK).
Mentions that I live in PRK and that can't get plus 10 rounders anyways.
Of course, you can only get 5 rds for Mini's from Ruger still, not even 10.
Didn't really respond to my request for their magazine policy.
I might have to Phyllis up on her offer to contact her directly.

I don't know about all those other guns, but I must say:

THE M77 MK2 IS BLINKIN' SEXY!!!

Also, I would like to know how the Ruger autoloader centerfire handguns are any less attractive than SIGs, Springfield XD's or them other boxy double-actions. I got no use for 'em, but I think they're all good-lookin'. His 22 pistols, however, look like Glocks. Which, of course, while fine guns, are just...plain. :)

"Ruger - Our guns double as an emergency tire chock."

"Ruger - Why buy better?"

"Ruger - Your safety is our biggest fear."

"Ruger - Soon with Braille warning labels on every gun."

"Ruger - Bigger guns make better billboards."

the thing that pisses me off about ruger the most is that they engrave that condecending "read owners manual" message on the barrel or slide of every gun they make.
Ditto - I hate that sort of thing. But Ruger's not alone - S&W's 1911 clone carries a warning that the pistol will fire without the magazine.

Oh, well, at least the warnings aren't bilingual.

Yet.

Looks like pure PC CR%# to me, man I hate that sh&T!

Looks like a share of stock or two are in my future, not that It'll do any good, but I have to try.

Nondescript got it:
Matt Payne, Ruger could never be so boxy as a Volvo (Crazy People?)

Yup, it's "Crazy People."

I loved that movie, and not just because I was crazy about Saabs.

I like all the safety warnings stamped on to Rugers.

On a slow hunting day, I can always read the gun. :D

Tamara, that is hysterical! I was looking at the 345 and while the grip is smaller, the slide is still an ingot of steel. Old man Ruger was against concealable guns. There was an article on him in a Guns and Ammo annual years ago. It showed a prototype of a 22 LR pistol that looked like a miniNambu but Ruger decided NOT to produce it as it was too concealable.

Most of the gun companies have had lapses from GC (gun correctness) and gone PC - Ruger is just one of them.

How about;

When it absolutely, possitively has to work...Trust a Ruger

When your life depends on it, it won't let you down.

Works, first time, every time.

Say what you will, I carry a Ruger P90 and have absolute confidence that it will work everytime I pull the trigger and I will hit what I am aiming at. How many people that paid 4 or more times as much for their guns can't say that?

I think any society that tries to legislate common sense or morality is not doing the best job for its' citizens.

Ruger

I got a late start in life(1990) on the joys of guns, shooting ,and such so I only have and use a few but over 25% of them are Rugers. Of the next four on my "to buy list" two of them are Rugers. You can put them down all you want but I like the individual guns and the company. Both are strong and will continue to be so,I predict, for quite a while. Just MHO.

All this talk about Rugers being ugly. Hmmm......to this day I still think the original Redhawk is the most beautiful .44 Magnum ever designed. The look alone caused me to buy one.

Rumpled:

Arms Makers for Responsible Citizens".

I just looked at a Ruger ad from my Shooting Times magazine dated back in 1995. And... guess what, they still used that slogan back in the day.

So its not anything new, hope it kinda answers your question.

Its almost 10+ yrs of that slogan.

:)

Ruger--With ours you won't need ten rounds*.

If this be ugly, I'll take it. Of course, the "safety paragraph" is on the other side. Smith and Taurus can compete in the flyweight category. I like Ruger because they will, every once in awhile, put out something like this that just stomps butt. And yes Petunia, I want to try .454 Casull in a snubbie because I am an American and I can. I only promise not to do it during fire season.:p This thing looks like the thinking man's insane magnum snubbie compared to the cut down Smith .500 because one gets to use .45 Colt as the analogue .38 Special. :D All I ask of the aftermarket is some leather and a foam rubber front sight.

*Then again The A-Team used Ruger Minis with thirty round mags and couldn't hit anything with them either. Seems to be endemic to that particular product. :D
