S&W 34-1 interesting!

The J frame 22’s, to me, are a good match of frame with caliber. The revolver at the bottom is J frame model 35. I had no idea until about two years ago that Smith ever made a 6” barrel 22lr in the J frame. Not really a kit gun but had to include it with the others.

I have both a 4"kit gun and a 6"35. I wish that S&W made a 5"

Mine feed me. That's something!!
No argument there, at least not from me. The rimfire revolvers I have had, S&W Model 17s and Model 34s all should have had their chambers finish reamed. But, I owned and sold them prior to my learning that. If the empties had been easier to eject, I might have kept them as they were accurate enough. Heck, the Model 17 could have kept me on the winners podium except the extraction of the empties was so discomforting as to distract my concentration.

But, the upside is, I found the wonderful world of the 32 S&W and the 32 S&W Long! Even more accuracy and reloadable!

I agree on shooting the AirLite Model 317’s, those are surprisingly tough to shoot at distances beyond 7-10 yards for me. The combination of the light weight, rimfire trigger pull and V-notch rear/Hi-Viz front sights aren’t the best for my eyes. I replaced the rear sight blade for a square-notch on my 317 and it helped, but it is still not a tack driver for me.

And you certainly aren’t kidding about the prices on the Model 63’s!

Back in 2020 I kept bidding on ones listed on GB and they were commanding crazy bids to take them home. They were being bid up so high that I bought a blued 10” Ruger Mk IV and a walnut/stainless 10/22 RSI from Buds, and I paid OTD for both less than just the winning bids were on the 63’s.

That’s when I started checking out the Model 34. In late 2021 I paid a bit more for my .22/.32 Kit Gun than half what Model 63’s were going for. It’s not stainless steel, but if that is an issue the Taurus 94 or 317in the safe could do (and hold 3 more shots, too.)

It looks like Enablers Unanimous has struck again! Good luck @Mark_Mark, hopefully you will soon bring another one home to the nest. Let us know what you think when you get it home and go shoot it.:D

Stay safe.
You did what I did with the V-notch on the 317, and I kept fiddling with the innards 'till the trigger smoothed out. It's still not as nice as the trigger in a long suffering 63, the gun that taught me to shoot double action. That thing is really smooth, but wish I could install at fiber optic front sight.
On that 63 hangs a tale; our club taught the NRA handgun course, and I wrote an NRA grant for six M63s. They were -2s. Much more recently, we switched to Ruger autos, and the Club sold off 4 of the six, first come, first served among members. A local shop offered us $450 @ to buy them, so that was the price we set. Four of our guys got a deal. This was maybe 5 years ago.

Oh yes, I'd love to have a nice accurate .32 caliber pistol. I like the reloadable part. But that AirLite has been very good to me, and very accurate.

That there's the dreaded sub-species, the "Devil Dog Murder Grouse". ! Indeed, 3" 12gauge 00 buckshot is your only hope. They keep .44 bullets in their gizzards. Like the one in the bottom photo, they are fond of saying: "you talking to me"?

I picked up this at a gun show about 5 years ago. It was tagged as a pre-34 and the price was right. Got it home and a couple things didn’t add up, the biggest was the 3.5” barrel. It turned out to be a pre-43, airweight kit gun, made in 1955.

Time to be one with the Sword and not a Sword Collector
