S&W 65-5 Stainless Pre-Lock Love

The 65 is nice. Those are very useful. IMHO, though, the price on it is not so great, but the price on the Model 36 is a pretty good deal.

Oooh yeah! it looks better in person. And if I have time today. Probably go pay off the 19-3 snub nose and put the 36 on a healthy vacation.

This is my 65-4, ex police, their number is visible above the trigger. The previous owner told me he installed a set of Wolff springs, the SA and DA pulls are both amazing and never skip a beat firing.

As nice as these guns may be, I think your local asking price is ridiculous, this one was $400 from a private seller a few years ago.

A gray 3M Scotch-Brite pad will get you back to factory finish.

I believe the 65-5 3" Lady Smiths are the only ones with a shrouded ejector rod. Should have a frame (rather than hammer) mounted firing pin. My experience shooting one was that the trigger wasn't super light, but very smooth and very crisp. It will likely be a while before you see another one, and when you do, you'll say, "man I saw one of those a few years ago, and they were only asking..."

yeah… that why it’s been sitting there for a long time. It does comes with the original Lady Smith Soft case. I’m not in a rush, so if it’s still there in a few weeks… touch it every time I visit the Shop to show interest, then offer $1100! it’s a consignment gun.

Prices are everywhere on the 65-5 Lady Smith! Don’t know what to think

You're already getting the S&W Model 19 snubby. Become proficient
with it before moving on to other K-frame guns. For many S&W
revolver users, that model has been among the holy grail firearms.

Good Point

The 19 is a great gun, hope you enjoy it.

I’d snap up that 3” 36-1. Probably offer a bit under the $500, but I’d still buy it.

The 65LS is such a nice piece, if it was on offer for a bit less, it wouldn’t still be there. I have a 60-9LS and adore it, but didn’t pay anything like what they are asking for the 65. I like your plan to offer $1100. Some shops will do that for good customers, especially after you buy two others in recent weeks.

Good luck!

the shop gets good classic’s in offend, a estate batch every 2-3 weeks. I can’t go their too much. I still feel like More & More classics will be coming out the safe and into the shelves as Boomers get ready to sell off guns their kids don’t want.

my current list so far, next 1-2 years kinda thing.

19 in a normal 4” barrel
29 in a 4-6” barrel
more old J frames
27 in good condition
Hand Ejector 32-20 with good bright blueing
17

definitely a Registered Magnum 3.5” with papers and box! lol must be in perfect condition!!!

I have a S&W 65 that I got used in a gun store during the first years of the AWB, when nobody else seemed to be interested in old-fashioned revolvers. I traded some hi-cap Glock mags and a little cash and have about $65 in the gun. I changed the hammer and shot this gun a lot with the kids. I vastly prefer a four inch barreled revolver over three inches and can shoot the four inchers better, at least that were the timer readings:).

I've generally always liked the 4-inch barrels best but
as the years have piled on I find the shorter barrels
"balance/settle" better in my hand.

Besides, as I've gotten older I've become a "cool cat"
and shorter barrels fit that image better. :)
