To me, my SD9VE is an inexpensive ($299) semi auto that is a true keeper. Bought it in 2015. I have lost the round count after 3500 down the pipe. Flawless, very accurate for what its meant for. 25yds in, it will keep all of em in a coffee can lid. No failures at all.
It carries nice, grip is perfect and it looks good. As for the trigger, I have not really been bothered by it. I am a revolver guy, and its like shooting a double action revolver. It is my Sunday go to meeting gun.
Anyone have praise for theres?

I got mine a couple years ago when there was a rebate for $279.99 minus the $30 rebate. I already had a Shield and an SR9c, so it was up against stiff competition. About 1000 rounds later I have no complaints and no malfunctions. I was surprised at how well made it is with no machining marks inside the slide and stainless magazines. Mine became my nightstand gun

Had a older model pos. Multiple trips to a smith. Nadda couldn't make it through a mag without FTF or FTE. Haven't had a chance to try the newer model yet.

I have an SD40VE and have been pretty happy with it. I did install a spring kit and "Boudica" trigger from Galloway Precision. Cost was around $30. Made for a noticeably improved trigger pull and trigger reset. IMHO, it made a good solid pistol even better.

I’ve had 2 SD40VEs fall into my lap. Impressed with the quality and function, especially at the price point. Would have kept at least one if it had been a 9, but I don’t really like .40.

I had the 40 caliber version. Paid $199 for it used. It never malfunctioned. The trigger was so stiff that I eventually traded it towards something else.

Not for me, but that pistol is a very viable choice for someone who isn't flush with cash and just wants a reliable defense pistol that won't break the bank. The typical gun owner who will rarely go to the range but still wants a handgun he or she at least knows will work.

I have a couple of the SD40VEs and after replacing the springs and polishing the inside, I like them, I keep one at the bedside and the other at the end table, I've never had a problem with either and I've had them for about 10+yrs. A north Georgia LGS ran the 9s for $200 and the 40s for $210 before the panic. The mags sometimes rattles, I like to clean them and lube the inside lightly with syn grease. All my M&P holsters and sights work with the SDs.

I found a SD40VE that was as new in box for $199. I couldn’t pass it up. I’d a whole lot rather had the 9mm version. After shooting it to confirm it was reliable it now resides in my car between the seat and the door frame.

The SW version has been my truck gun for several years now. It has been 100% reliable so far. I did do a little trigger work on it and improved it some. At least good enough for me.

I just bought the SD version a couple of months ago but haven’t shot it yet. The trigger on the new version is better than the trigger I worked on on the SW version. I will leave it like it is for now. I am happy with it for the $279 I paid for it. I just bought a new Glock 17 and I’m not sure it’s $280 better than the Smith. I will know after I shoot them side by side.

I have had one for some years. The trigger is terrible, but otherwise it is 100% reliable.

I had a Sigma VE way back and it was a fairly decent gun. I wouldn't mind having another one if my employer wasn't already putting a Glock in my hand.

I had to sell my SD9VE and bought a M&P9 few months later , a VE would have done me just as good should have got another. The only thing I don't like about the VE is the narrow take down plate , I had installed a wider plate from NDZ

My only complaint with the sd9ve is the magazine release is too light. The plastic sights are kinda cheap and I did install an apex kit, and now I rather like the soft rolling break of the trigger. It works very well, is light, the slide is easy to manipulate, and it is an ergonomically superior pistol in my hands. Think I paid maybe $250 for a used one when people were still trash talking them and have no inclinations to ever get rid of it. If there were an "approved" method of stiffening the magazine release I would strongly consider it an option for CCW.
