I have gotten to really really enjoy shooting my 1911 and my revolvers in SA mode more than anything else...

I currently have a very nice p226 sig (non-railed) in .40.... Really like the gun, but don't shoot it often at all since the 1911 hit me... My main carry gun is a .40 and i'd like to consider a .40 with SA...

Giving serious thought to the Dan Wesson SS Custom and also a few of the para's and STI's..

would really appreciate any opinions.. this would be a range gun and perhaps used for some IDPA type competitions at some point down the road.. thoughts??

or should i stay away from .40 for range work and get a .38 super or another .45???

I love the .40 as well, and of the guns you listed, I like the way Dan Wesson puts their 1911's together the most. You might also check out CZ, less expensive and also capable of SA.

How about a Browning Hi Power in .40 ? That should do well !

+1 on the CZ-40B suggestion. It can be carried cocked and locked or DA/SA. Plus it has the grip angle and looks reminiscent of a colt commander.
