I'm hoping to I can snag a Griswold .36 for black Friday or otherwise get a good deal on one.
I'd like to patina it and shoot it.
Brass framed revolvers look good after they are aged a bit.
Actually the charcoal bluing Colt used before WWII was more durable than the hot salt bluing of today. People seem to judge the old charcoal bluing by what Uberti markets as charcoal bluing but in fact, it is not even charcoal bluing but nitre blue. A completely different finish from a completely different process and it is quite fragile. Real charcoal bluing (carbona) as done by Turnbull is quite durable.Yes! I love the patina they get from even one range session. I plan to age mine a bit so it looks like it's seen some service through the war, but not make it look 150 years old if that makes sense. It's jut that the modern dark black bluing they use on these guns looks totally wrong. They never looked like that, even from the factory they used a different less durable bluing back then.

I have wanted one for awhile, but somebody told me they are often on sale at Thanksgiving, so I have been waiting.
