Was at the local Wally World today to pick up some ammo and happened to notice a new shotgun in the case. It said Sam Walton Special edition on the gun in gold letters. Looked exactly like a Remington 1100 special field with the straight stock to me but I can't understand why anyone would spend $600 for an 1100 with Sam Waltons name engraved on it. Anybody else seen this? I understand Mr. Walton was quite the outdoorsman but it doesn't seem his company is following his practices of late by what I've read here.

They have one in the local Wal-Mart here in Alabama. Wal-Mart is still hunter/gun friendly here in the South. I think that you can still order handguns from the local store. I don't know about others. They always have a fair selection of hunting/fishing/outdoor products. The do not, however have a wide range of ammo.

I was just wondering if anyone else had seen the gun. We here in Indiana still have a pretty good selection of ammo, especially shotgun. Not too much high power rifle ammo though. I just thought it was curious to have a special field Remington with a Walmart name on it but I haven't seen one in the Remington catalog for a very long time!

I'm sort of puzzled by the anti-WalMart stance. For a big corperation, they do very well (IMHO) at respecting the 2A. CCW friendly, decent stock of guns/ammo. The squirrels behing the counter get out of hand every now and again, but so do the ones at our local gunshops.

I work at wal-mart so I can see if one of my buddies will open up the case for me to look at it.
