I'm thinking about a new rifle, a "CZ 527 varmint" in .223. (The one with a laminated stock, 24 in heavy barrel, and set trigger)

Any idea's for a scope?

You need to tell us what price range you're looking at and what you'll use the rifle for.

Otherwise with the info you've given us I'd say don't fiddle around with the Weavers or Burris and take a look at Schmidt & Bender, Swarovski, IOR Valdadi, Kahles, US Optics, and the high end Leupolds.

OK, I'm considering the Burris Fulfield II price range. It's intended usage would be for varmints out to three hundred yards.

Burris is a very well made scope. Small targets out to 300 yards I'd think something starting around 4 power would be good. Depending on scope and brand that will get you 12 to 16 power on the other end. Any higher base magnification and it will be harder to find things in the scope.

JMHO

SIghtron S2 3x9/42 - simply the best deal going in low-to-moderate cost scopes. I have a Burris FF2 and a Nikon Buckmaster, and the Sightron S2 puts 'em both to shame. The fact that you can buy one for $200 is simply amazing, IMO.

That's a fact. IMO, the best scope for the $$ available today, and virtually unknown as yet.

They're higher in quality than many scopes costing twice as much.

I have a Sightron SII416X42MD on my 700 LTR, .223, but they're all good.

weaver grand slam 6-24X40.
Hey, that was my answer!

Seriously, it's a nice pairing. I have the .223 527 American and it's topped by Sactown's suggested scope (although I arrived at that conclusion on my lonesome).

I'll third the Sightron recommendation but I'll leave the magnification up to you. My SII 39x42 ST is a great scope and does everything I need it to --its clear, tracks flawlessly, and holds zero every time. Be sure to check the auction sights and you may find a great deal -- I got mine brand new in the box for $130 shipped.

Im thinking of getting that same gun. How does it shoot with 55 grain ammo. And i would get a Tasco Target/Varmint 6-24. Their Great.

My CZ 527 Kevlar Varmint is topped with a Nikon Monarch UCC 6.5-20x44 Adjustable Objective, fine crosshair recticle. It's a great varmint scope...

My top 3 in no particular order would be:

Busnhell Elite 4200 6-24X (great scope, but 17" is a bit much)

Burris Signature Select 6-24x (built like a Ruger GP100 - like a tank)

Nikon UCC Monarch 6.5-20X (discontinued and on sale at clearance prices if you can find one)

Speaking of the CZ 527 varmint, I almost bought that rifle. But due to some trigger problems I've had recently with my 527 Carbine, I decided to buy a Remington 700 VSSF varminter instead and put a replacement trigger in it.

Scoped CZ

I currently have a Sightron II 3X12 on my CZ527 Kevlar, but I am thinking of upgrading to a Nikon 4.5X14.

I currently have a Nikon 4.5X14 on my Savage 10FP and love it and will probably put the Sightron on my Bushmaster V-Match.

Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x40 is great for a varmint rifle. That's what I have, and optics is as clear as high-end Leupolds at 1/2 the price. Very sturdy scope, too.
