Lets stick with the main semi-auto calibers of 9mm, 40 S&W, and 45 ACP. Vote on the poll which you prefer, you can vote for more than one.:D Also, if you want to state what weight you're using, then by all means.:)

I'll go first, I've two boxes of 165 grain Speer Gold Dot for my XD-40.

RIght now, I'm using Winchester USA (white box) JHPs in all calibers (9mm, .40, .45) with some Remington UMC JHPs in 9mm.

Uh.....where are all the rifle and shotgun rounds? Not all of us use a pistol.

if you carry around a collapseable .308 in a briefcase you are my new friggin hero

Ah, if only I could....

I don't have the money for a pistol at the moment, and I'm living out of state while going to college so I have to wait to go home to buy one anyway. The only gun I've got for self defense is a Remington 870. I'd love to have a pistol and a CHL, but money and geographical location is screwing me over (Oregon makes non-residents jump through a lot of hoops to get a CHL).

I'd imagine there are quite a few people here like me, who, for some reason or another, rely on a long gun only for self defense.

Honestly, any decent JHP that's a reasonable weight (I'm looking at you, Cor-bon) is fine with me.

I go with Fed Hydrashocks in any handgun ammo that's available.

180gr in my G23.

Biker

speer gold dot same as my local PD potentially less legal problems if I'm ever (god forbid) forced to use it

Winchester Black Talon
hasn't been in production for quite some time, I use the modern version of it, the Ranger T

along the same lines, the hydrashock is a dated round too, federal's new premium line is the HST series.

I found Golden Saber to have inconsistant velocities. I decidied to use Speer Gold Dots.

9mm - 124gr +p in my Kahr PM9
45 ACP - 200gr +p in my Glock 36 (somewhat short barrel)

I voted...

Speer Gold dot and Federal Hydra Shock

I feel that in 45acp the Hydra Shock is the better performer, and in 9mm the 124 Gold dots are the choice. That said, I am growing attached to the Hornady TAP 200gr 45 loads. They shoot soft and group well and I have had no feeding problems. Of course, the Rem 185+p's are a classic stopper in 45.

Sorry, I have very little experience with 40S&W. The little that I do have was enough to tell me that I should stick with 9mm or 45.

GA 200gr Gold Dot .44Spl HP -- Favorite CCW load
Golden Sabre 230gr .45Acp
Golden Sabre 185gr .45Acp

I have SXT in my HD .45 right now, but only cause the store was out of 230 Hydrashoks.

I would really like to get my hands on some Federal HST or Tactical Bonded.
