Self Defense Ammo : Your Preference?

What about Black Hills?? I carry their 9mm, 115gr. jhp EXP. They also make some excellent ammo in all the popular rifle & handgun calibers.

Am I the only guy that reloads PD ammo?

I choose a low flash powder and a high qualify bullet that expands quickly. I use 7.4g of VV N340 and a 200g Hornady HP-XTP bullet with a 1.230 OAL. Makes about 950fps. I'm sure there are factory loads that approximate what I've worked up but this way I know for sure I'm getting what I want.

I carry Federal PD Hyrda Shok in .32, 9mm, and .45, but my second clip in 9mm is loaded with EFMJ (which I have been very impressed with, and may become first clip). The newer Federal HST are quite impressive also:

I've done this same poll on several gun boards including this one. I think you'll find that Gold Dots will lead and Fed Hydrashok or Golden saber will come in close second.

I use the Gold Dots loaded by Double Tap. Mine are .40 S&W 165gr

1140fps 476 ft/lbs from a 3.5"bbl.

1240fps 563 ft/lbs from a 4.5"bbl.

I use handloads because, I don't feel like paying for over priced "premium" ammo. I can make better quality ammunition myself.
